Fantastic reaction in the Club on Saturday evening from the great support as the Intermediate footballers secured two vital points v Na Fianna in the league. Tense was probably the best word to describe the atmosphere among the supporters with so much a promotion playoff place at stake. Thankfully the players were well prepared and in the right frame of mind to play some of their most effective football in the league so far. Everyone played their part in the win as Scoil went in front from the start and kept the pressure on the opposition to chase the game. While Na Fianna fought back in the second half and got to within 2 points, Scoil were composed and prepared to work from the full forward line making life difficult for the opposition. A four point winning margin was a fair result as far as all Scoil supporters were concerned! Next Saturday, in the final scheduled league game of the season, the team travel to play Ballyboughal at 5pm. This is another vital game and support would be especially welcome.
On Sunday, the Juniors travelled to Liffey Park and enjoyed a two point one over Liffey Gaels in the AFL8 game. A positive result is vital in the one game remaining in the league to ensure a promotion Play Off place.
On Sunday morning, the Minors played Fingallians in the hurling championship in Swords and secured the win. However, other results in the championship meant that the lads will not be progressing to the next stage.
The minor football championshp game next Sunday v St Sylvesters is fixed for St Annes 13.

Under 13 Boys Football: Update
With no match last Saturday, there was an excellent well-attended training session on an autumnal Tuesday evening in St Anne’s. The lads did some fast-paced drills and finished up with a quick match just before the light faded. With only 2 matches left in the league, the team are looking for a good win against Sylvester’s away next Saturday afternoon – support welcome.
Under 8s
The Under 8s enjoyed their trip to Swords on Saturday morning with some great performances and wins v St Finians. Happy to report that JP was pleased with the all the players! Training is now taking place in O’Connells School Astro every Tuesday 7-8pm.
Under 11 Girls
The team had a hard start to the game against Naomh Mearnóg since they were playing into the sun and a strong breeze in the first half – in the second half, the breeze disappeared and the sun went behind the clouds! They had a much better performance in the second half, scoring points and goals – coming short by a point at the full-time whistle.
With 16 there, it’s hard to do individual comments but kudos to Eve for switching from defence to forward at one point and making a significant difference in both. The idea of these fun games is, of course, to give girls experience in different positions. Siobhan took a point that set everyone talking. Playing fifteen a side was ideal for our sized squad. So thanks to Naomh Mearnog for facilitating us and for a great game.
Under 13 Girls
The girls played out a hard fought draw in their knockout game on Saturday afternoon in Clontarf. The replay is now set for next Saturday and best of luck to all involved.

Notice – Brother Frank O’Connor
It was with great regret that Scoil heard of the death of Bro Frank O’ Connor a great friend of Scoil Ui Chonaill GAA Club in the sixties. Bro O’ Connor, affectionately known as “Smilie ” taught in OCS from 1957 to 1965 and was deeply involved in school and Club sporting activities. O’ Connells enjoyed perhaps its most successful football era in that period contesting five junior A football Leinster championships from 1959 to 1954 and winning four. The school also contested the Leinster senior football finals in 62 and 63 losing out to St Mels , who went on to complete a Hogan Cup double. It was no surprise that the Club also hit a purple patch in the sixties contesting 6 minor Dublin Championships and winning 5. The Club also won the under 21 Championship and contested the senior football Championship for the first time in 1968, losing out to Clan Na Gael. It was great era for the Club and much of the success was due to Bro. Connor’s support and assistance in the school.
Bro. O ‘Connor kept in touch with the Club for some years after he moved to Kells and a few challenge matches were arranged at juvenile level. Following retirement from teaching Bro O Connor served eleven year in Zambia and finally retired to Baldoyle in 2006.
