Under 8s
Tough as Teak” Scoil UiChonaill U8 hurlers were away to Naomh Mearnog today and kept up their exceptionally high standards!
Ronan’s team: Good performances from Under 8 team with Fionn Daly in flying form throughout. Ella was a revelation at the back while Katerina fought for every ball. Caoimhe battled gamely while Neil hit the sliotar some distances. Conal finished off a great move while Luke scored a powerful free. Alan worked tirelessly throughout. Two good performances that show training skills learned over the past few months.
LIAM/JP’s TEAM – Most pleasing was another 100% opposition shut out, as kids fought for every ball & kept pressing forward/hard!!…Also delighted to see kids applying their hooking skills (Conall Twin in particular). Raphael, Liam and Aoileen were brilliant in defence and Eabha M came out of goal to score great goal in second match! Usual suspects got on the score sheet….
Under 10 Girls
Update from mentor Aidan Mulligan: Another great day for the Scoil Uí Chonaill U10 girls team and another win. These girls give us everything in spirit and effort and their skillset is improving week on week.
Roisin and Eabha showed some great handling in their half each in goal and eabha even managed to score in both her hurling and football games on her birthday weekend.
Our back line won some great ball and made Barrog work for every score they got.
Our midfield worked well together and got two late points to get us the win.
Finally our forward line never let them settle which was key in us getting the winning score. Be proud girls. Hard work pays dividends. Tus maith leat na hoibre.
Under 15 Girls Erins Isle 1-3 Scoil 1-14
A very positive performance by the Under 15 girls in their Division 1 league game on Saturday afternoon in Finglas.
Under 16 Boys A Football Championship Scoil / Fontenoy 1-12 Ballymun Kickhams 1-7
A battling yet emphatic victory by the combined Scoil / Fontenoy team v Division 1 opponents Ballymun Kickhams last Saturday afternoon. Down by 1 at half time, the lads fell further behind as Ballymun put on the pressure in the opening phase of the 2nd half. However, the team never showed any sign of giving up and led by captain Robert Kennedy, they dominated the rest of the game. Some fantastic scores from Ted, Dara Levins and Robert (0-7 in total) as well as a goal and 3 points from Jordan O’Reilly secured the win. The defence played their part and showed great determination by ensuring they were first to the ball with great displays by all especially full back Nathan Walsh, Conor Farrelly and Dave Pugh all worth a mention. Fantastic scenes at the end of the game as mentors Colm Kennedy and Ciaran O’Murchú as well as newcomer Liam Egan savoured the performance of the entire team. Unfortunately, mentor Adam Wilson (Adult hurler and footballer) missed out as he had to leave at half time as he had a game later that afternoon. Next up in the Quarter Final is Whitehall Colmcille on Saturday 25th April in Ringsend Pk and support would be especially welcome for this game.

Dave Billings RIP
Message from John Costello, Secretary Dublin County Board which describes the contribution of the late Dave Billings to the GAA at Club, County and 3rd Level.
It is regret that I advise you of the sudden death of Dave Billings this morning. The following is a statement I have issued on behalf of the County Committee.
Dublin GAA has been plunged into shock and sadness with the news that Dave Billings has passed away. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Annette, sons Liam, Cathal, Neal and daughter Hannah. Dave was a Gaelic games evangelist and dedicated large parts of his life to both football and hurling whether as a player, a manager, or as an administrator. He won honours in both codes at all levels including an All-Ireland Club SFC medal with his beloved St Vincent’s in 1976. He was a member of the legendary Dublin football team of the 1970s. Dave was a Dublin senior football selector during the regimes of both Tommy Lyons and Paul Caffrey when Dublin finally ended the barren spell of seven years without capturing a Leinster SFC title. His influence spread much further than the confines of the playing fields of Dublin city and county as Dave acted as a trusted mentor and guiding light to students from all over Ireland during his 18 years as UCD Gaelic Games Executive in Belfield. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
We have forwarded our condolences on behalf of the Club Executive and Members to the Billings Family, UCD and St Vincents. Dave lived in Clontarf and was often a welcome visitor to the games of all Clubs in the local area. He was a genuine GAA stalwart and will be missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dills.
Hope you can join us in the Club on Saturday in support of our great causes!
