Adult games

A very competitive performance by the Adult hurlers in their championship game v Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday evening in Silver Park.  The lads showed plenty of determination and skill throughout the game and especially in the additional five minutes of injury time played in the 2nd half.  Well done to Andy Bunynan who started at full forward but moved into goal early in the 2nd half when Daniel Mottram suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury.  Excellent free taking from the cool headed Barry Cushen was added to by well taken scores from Michael McCluskey, Paraic Naughton and Neil O’Flynn.  Conor Coady controlled the defence while Gerald O’Connell, Joe Ryan and Sean Kirwan all contributed to the performance.  Pictures from the game are available to view on the Kilmacud Crokes website at:

The rescheduled Intermediate Football championship game v Naomh Barrog went ahead this evening and happy to report that Scoil came out on top.  A well worked goal, finished to the net by Conor Coady, was the highlight of the game played in ideal conditions in Drumnigh. We created plenty of chances throughout the game but our finishing left some room for improvement.  A good workout overall and on to the next round where we play Cuala in O’Toole Park at 7.15pm on Friday 5th June. Before that, the lads play Naomh Mearnog in Portmarnock on Saturday evening and support would be much appreciated for this league game.

The Ladies were also playing this evening but lost out in their cup game v Ballyboden away.

Lots of good fixtures this weekend which would welcome your support.

Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter for updates on fixtures.

Juveniles

Nursery

Busy morning on Saturday, with lots of  activity and skill development underway.  Players of the week included:

Twins Orla and Aisling for their dedication and making themselves heard.

Esme for great determination in hurling.
Edward for great all round enthusiasm.

Under 8 Boys

Update from JP on Saturday – U8 Footballers were away to Fingallians this morning. JP/Liam Team were on fire!! – Winning both matches. Our Kids found the first match a struggle as “poles” instead of “goals” used but soon found their groove. Second match was probably the best we’ve seen them play this year with Alex & Adam absolutely imperious in midfield for both games. Charlie/Liam kept defenders busy as our dynamic midfield duo, scored point after point! Tadhg & Sophie were brilliant in defence with the latter pulling off the block of the day (Pure Class)!. Eabha minded nets 1st game and moved to attack 2nd game keeping the opposition busy!

and from Ronan ‘Team 2 Report. – I think all parents appreciate our excellent pitches and parking facilities after travelling to Balheary again this morning. The boys and girls have everything on their two games with some excellent fisted points by Luke that Michael McCluskey would be proud of. It was great to see Raphael score a goal and a point with Katerina putting in some brilliant tackles. Neil and Conal worked hard throughout. Alan made three great blocks. Overall some good teamwork by all players and you can see regular training making a difference

Under 12 Girls

Thanks to all our supportive parents for making the long trip out to Ballyboughal last Sunday.  We were playing without our older girls as they were on a trip to Inis Oirr.  We suspected that we would miss them as part of the team but were anxious to see how the younger girls would fare without them. They were well beaten in terms of scores but there were some great positives too as some of them started to play as they had never done before. Sadhbh Nic P was one such player as directed by Paul from the sideline she kept moving into space and caught many balls. Siofra D was impressive as she too improved at catching.  Reailtin and Sara were both fast and determined while Ellie was tough and strong in defence. Kellyann did her best in defence and made one outstanding block that you wouldn’t see in Croker. Aine and Meadhbh both keep improving, are very fast and passed some lovely balls. Isabelle caught some very high balls in her usual inimitable fashion. You could say that Ella ran her socks off and of course Holly was her usual steadying influence at midfield.   Eve is a very strong player and showed it while Gabrielle tried hard and went in for the balls. The opposition was much stronger but if we had had our older players we would certainly have given them a run for their money. Nonetheless it was great experience for the younger players and it was gratifying to see them making some of the moves they had learnt at training. Abby is ill and so too is Sadhbh Nic P. both of whom missed training so get well wishes to them.  Next Sunday we play at home much to the relief of the parents. We meet at half four for a five o’clock kickout.

Under 15 Girls

The U15 girls are presently joint top of Div 1 with na Fianna. A big weekend in store as Na Fianna are due to play Foxrock Cabinteely and Scoil will travel away to play Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday at 1.30pm. The Division 1 league title is up for grabs!  In the event of both na Fianna and Scoil ending level on points a play off between both sides will determine the champions. This group of girls deserve great credit for their enthusiasm and commitment to Gaelic football. They play successfully at the highest level and have always been in contention over the years for success. The hope is to bring a Division 1 title to the club. Good luck girls.

Boys Feile 2015!

Boys Football Féile took place in Hartstown (St Peregrines) last weekend.  The lads were very unlucky to lose out in their first game which they found difficult to recover from. They played well in both games and again were very close in each of them. We got a great picture from Neil of all the team which was published on Facebook. Well done to all the players, coaches, parents and supporters who represented the Club so well at this special competition.

This week the Boys (& their families) turn their hand to fund raising with lots of activities planned for the Club on Saturday next 23rd May and we hope you can support the events. The lads are planning a Cake Sale / Coffee morning, Sausage Sizzle, Puc Fada and Raffle.  Please drop in and support the lads who are looking forward to their fun fundraising day!  Events start at 10.30am!
