Adult games
Great Weekend for Adult Football in the Club with 3 wins from 3 Games. First up was the Senior Football team who won their Division 2 game in Portmarnock on Saturday evening. Scoring 2-7 in each half ensured that Naomh Mearnog had no answer to the Scoil performance. The score included a hat trick of goals from Tiarnán Crowe who also added points and played his best game of the year so far. Special mention for the ‘Wedding Guests’ who travelled to Mark & Una’s wedding in Cavan on Friday, returned to Dublin that night to get ready for the game and re-joined the celebrations on Saturday evening – Dedication and Commitment!
This was followed by two good wins on Sunday in both league fixtures. The Junior As played in Portobello on Sunday morning in what everyone agreed were the worst conditions played on in a long time. Despite the conditions, Scoil were the clear winners of this game and Portobello confirmed the lads as the best team they had played in the league so far.
Then on Sunday afternoon, the Junior Bs lined out for a famous victory in a well contested game played in great spirits v Skerries.
Unfortunately, the Adult hurling championship game v Craobh Chiarain was called off at the very last minute by our opponents this evening. The lads went back to Clontarf to train while the supporters headed back home.
The Ladies were also playing this evening but lost out to the combined St Finians and Ballyboughal team in their game.
Big championship games next week with Intermediate and Junior Football fixtures. Support very welcome!
Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter for updates on fixtures.
Juveniles
We were delighted to welcome Dublin’s Michael Dara Macauley as our substitute Games Promotions Officer (GPO) over the past two weeks. Joanne certainly picked a good one for us! Michael covered the coaching slots in our affiliated schools and received a great reaction from all the boys and girls who participated in their Gaelic Games training sessions. Let’s hope the Dubs (both hurling and football) are winners on Sunday too!
Nursery
Busy morning on Saturday with a great turnout and everyone enjoying the lovely weather conditions. Great fun too as many parents got involved and also got some exercise as they joined in the games which focus on co-ordination! New members are always welcome to drop in and take part.
Under 8 Boys
Update from JP on Saturday – ““Tough as Teak” U8 hurlers entertained Fingallians this morning and they did not disappoint – with clean sweep x4 wins!!
Delighted for my Birthday Boy Alex (8) who scored twice also. Everyone gave 100% on a scorching hot morning, particularly the U8 girls (Aoileen, Ella, Sophie, Katerina, Caoimhe & Eabha) who never stopped attacking the ball – opposition didn’t know how to defend against them!!
Thanks to all those who bought sausage sizzlers/cakes in support of the feile team.
Under 12 Girls
Beann Eadair came to visit us on Sunday and, strengthened by the home comers from Inis Oirr we put up a display of football that held the spectators breathless. From the throw in the girls played their hearts out and an opening point by Caoimhe got the adrenalin flowing. From then on it was a ding dong battle all the way and this time our girls were going to hold onto that ball come what may. The scores kept mounting on both sides all during the first half and we went in 2.3. to 2.1 for Howth at half time. Sadhbh Murphy, Caoimhe and Siobhan may not have played any football in Inis Oirr but they must have been getting secret lessons from the Galway players because they attacked and harried and caught some amazing balls and as a result we got some great scores. Jody was staunch in defence always there when needed certainly giving her best display ever and that’s saying something. It was great to see Sadhbh Ni P calling for the ball and making some lovely passes and despite a bad knock she played gamely on. Well done Sadhbh. Abby was, what can one say but that she was fast and fiery and ran rings around the opponents. Siofra Delaney improves with every game and certainly tried hard for every ball in this game. Meibhin was there always shadowing her opponent and, literally, keeping her out of harm’s way. Kellyann now has the knack of breaking through with the ball which she did to great effect. I don’t know what Paul said at half time but when Ella came out she was everywhere on the pitch using her great speed to advantage. Reailtin gave a marvellous display of harrying the opposition until she put them off their stroke. Gabrielle certainly listened to the advice she was given about blocking her opponents and using her strength. Holly was the backbone of the team passing some lovely balls up to the forwards. Eve ran her legs off and always proved a danger while Isabelle cannot get enough praise for her defence of the goal. Cool, calm and collected says it all and her kickouts went directly to her team-mates. Aine was on fire chasing every ball and, like Meadhbh equally fast and determined, is proving to be a great asset to the team. What was particularly pleasing about this game was the way the girls passed the ball to whoever was in position to score and our forwards made the most of it. There was no selfishness at all which is more than can be said for most teams. Caoimhe got a blow on the face but courageously played on and her scores were a delight and Sadhbh M jumped for a ball and jarred her knee. We hope she is better for her ballet exam. Good luck to both her and Meibhín. Our girls are nothing if not multi talented with Sadhbh Ni P winning a gold medal for her fiddle playing in the past couple of weeks. Winning by five points was a plus certainly but what was even better was the team spirit and determination shown by girls. Because it is only thirteen a side we always have subs and the mentors have the difficult task of running girls on and off but next year it will be fifteen which will suit our team numbers much better. What really thrilled me was the way the subs shouted for Scoil on the sideline, totally involved in the play although not playing themselves. That’s a wonderful attitude. . The final score of Scoil 2.7 to Howth’s 2.2 says it all. We are proud of you girls.
Under 15 Girls Kilmacud Crokes A 4-4 Scoil Uí Chonaill 2-9
The U15 girls came so close in their Division 1 game v Kilmacud Crokes A on Saturday last. The team gave a great performance and were so close to achieving an historic win. All the mentors and parents were very proud of the team and as a Club we would like to acknowledge, on behalf of all members, the consistent and whole hearted effort put in by all involved.
Exam break now for some teams – we wish all our Members and their families, who start exams next week, all the very best.

Boys Feile 2015!
The Boys (& their families) took on lots of fund raising activities in the Club on Saturday. The Bake Sale and Sausage Sizzle were enjoyed by many members, players and visitors to the Club especially as we got such a lovely morning for it. Great fun among the juvenile mentors and the Nursery coordinators as they participated in the Puc Fada with Liam and John still contesting the winning put. The Team and mentors would like to pass on their thanks to everyone who supported the events in any way. Over €700 was raised from the morning’s activities and it will all be used to pay for the Feile expenses. Back to league fixtures for the Under 14s shortly and best of luck to them as they challenge for promotion.
