Adult games

All set this week for the Hurling Championship semi final next Sat 29th August v Naomh Fionnbarra at 6pm in Clontarf.  Support Vital!

The Division 2 game last Saturday evening went the way of St Peregrines as the home team battled hard in the final quarter to secure the win in front of their supporters.  The game was low scoring and close up to last 15 minutes when Peregrines secured the match winning scores.  Next game is the Championship Quarter Final which has been switched from Parnell Park to Chanel so that the Dublin Ladies can play their semi final in Donnycarney.

The second team had a great win on Sunday morning in the league against St Joseph’s OCB and remain in strong contention for promotion.  In very tough conditions as the rain poured down, Scoil went into a good lead and were 1-5 to 0-1.  However the opposition came back with some good scores and perhaps some ‘sympathetic’ frees from the Referee.  Mid way through the second half the lead was down to one point but that was when the team lifted their game and sealed the win with some excellent scores from play. A vintage performance from Man of the Match Paul Bohan who scored 2-05 from play. Good performances also from Adam Wilson, Neil Boden and Seán Doolin throughout the game.  The win puts the team top of the league with three games remaining.

Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter for updates on fixtures.

Juveniles

Fixtures for our Under 8s to Under 11s recommence on Saturday morning as follows:

Under 8 v N. Mearnog @ 10am away
Under 9 v Trinity Gaels @ 10am home
Under 10 v Howth @ 12.15pm away

Under 11 v Erin go Bragh @ 11am home.

The teams have continued training on Wednesday evening’s in the Club over the summer due to the great bunch of Mentors and Coaches involved.

We wish them all the best in their games in the 2nd half of the season over the next few months.

Nursery / Naoinra

It’s back to action for the youngest members on Saturday 5th September.  New players are always welcome!

Under 16 Hurling Championship, O’Tooles 2-07   Scoil / Fontenoy 3-13

A good, competitive and skillful performance from the Under 16s on Saturday in the Under 16 B hurling championship which was also enjoyed by the spectators from both sides.  We were ahead from the early stages and two goals from Odhran Lowry were a key contribution to the win along with some excellent midfield play from Eoghan McKay and super defending from Sam Callan and goalkeeper Fitzy.  Robert Kennedy converted some great frees while Daragh Levins, Conor Farrelly, David Kennedy, Conor Barnes and Conor Ennis added their support for the win.

Special mention for Eoghan McKay this week who played at midfield for the Dublin Under 16 hurling development squad in their game on Sunday.

Ladies Football

The Juvenile championships begin this with the Under 14s away to Round Towers, Lusk on Friday evening and the Under 15s are in action on Saturday at 1.30pm in the Club v Na Fianna in the Division 1 competition.  Support is very welcome for all games.

Dublin

Great result for the Dubliln Senior ladies against Monaghan in Clones on Saturday last and they now play Armagh in the All Ireland Semi Final.  This game is set for Sat 5th Sept in Parnell Park.  Commiserations to Club GPO Joanne Courtney on Monaghan’s loss.

Excitement is building – Only four more sleeps to the Dublin v Mayo All Ireland Semi Final on Sunday 30th August.

The Club ticket order has been collected and the tickets will be available on Thursday 27th August in the Club from 9.30pm onwards.  As the game is a sell out it should be a fantastic atmosphere in Croke Park on Sunday.

The Club will be open on the day and we welcome everyone to drop in and enjoy the facilities during and after the match.  We will also have the BBQ on the go from c 5.30pm.

Why not call in on the way home from Croke Park or drop down to watch the game or after if you have watched it at home.  Everyone is welcome – in Dublin and Mayo colours!!

Best wishes this week to Club President Dick Murphy who is recovering from recent back surgery and hopes to be back on the sidelines soon.
