2017 is going to be OUR year…We want YOU to dictate our direction. Have your say in the Scoil Census…
What is the Scoil Census? Well you can find it here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Scoil_Census
It will take you around 12-15 minutes to complete and is invaluably important both for Scoil collectively and you individually.
We see 2017 being a HUGE year for Scoil Uí Chonaill and we want to make sure everyone has their input so we can put our best foot (hoof) forward!
We want everyone to give us their input whether you are involved in playing, attending games, helping at social events, bringing your family to training. Whether it’s a heavy commitment or more of a light touch we want to hear from you!
Please pass this link on to anyone you feel should contribute (note: there will be some hard copies in the club until the New Year for those with no online presence). Go raibh maith agat
Gaelic for Mothers & Others (GFMO)
Delighted to hear that we’ve had a fabulous 28 ladies join us for the last 6 weeks of training and they are now on their Christmas break. The Ladies are having the first of many social gatherings on Sat 17th in the Clubhouse. A Ladies only night!! We shall be recruiting on that night too so any ladies over 18 are free to join us for more information and a tipple or two…..
Santa Claus visits Scoil
There was fantastic fun in the Clubhouse on Saturday for all our young members. Taking a break from Arnotts, Santa dropped into the Club and spent time with each of his visitors to listen and chat about Christmas. Santa was also happy to take time for photos with all his visitors. Huge thanks to all the organisers for making the event so special and one to remember.
Special mention for Majella McDonagh our artistic director who transformed the Club and created the beautiful grotto where Santa met all his visitors. Well done also to Michael McCluskey our bar man for the event and his helpers and to Sandra, Audrey, Ronan and all the team who organised this event. Everyone is certainly in the mood for Christmas now!
Bag Packing – Friday 23 December
We have been allocated the most important slot in the shopping calendar by Nolans for 2016 – Friday 23 December. We are dividing the day into six two hour slots so we will have six separate teams on the tills with six people needed at a time. This is also a great opportunity to promote the Club in the local area and encourage people to learn more about the Scoil story. Thanks to those who have volunteered already but we would like some more help.
Available between 8.30-10.30am or 10.30am-12.30? Contact TJ Farrelly at 086 8326644 now!
National Club Draw
As mentioned at the AGM we will be participating in the GAA National Club Draw in 2017. Tickets will be available shortly and will be circulated across the Club. Every ticket brings in €10 as all the proceeds are allocated to the Seller and the GAA organise and provide the prizes. Watch out for more information coming soon…..
End of Season Party – Saturday 28 January 2017
The Club’s End of Season Party will take place on the last Saturday in January. Clontarf Castle is the venue on Saturday 28 January 2017. Ticket prices are again being held at €30 and like last year we are holding the party in the Great Hall. It promises to be a great night as we celebrate all our achievements of 2016 and as we get ready to commence the 2017 season. We need to provide the Castle with an estimate by the end of December so if you’re interested give any of the following a call:
Declan Hoban (087-6539943), Joan Cushen (087-2222650), Ronan Murphy (087-9295105) or Tiarnan Crowe (087-6492316).
Congratulations to Hannah Leahy who has been selected on the Dublin Minor Training Panel for 2017.
Congratulations also to Aoife deBurca who has been selected on the Dublin Junior Football Dub Stars Panel
Next week will be our final newsletter before Christmas so if you have any special Scoil memories/moments from 2016 please get in touch. I have lots but a few of my personal favourites include:
- Watching Muinteoir Tara & Paul Meagher perform their Strictly routine in front of the Nursery and parents/coaches on a Saturday morning (thanks to John Kelly)
- The composed and measured performance of our Senior team winning the Intermediate Championship final
- Travelling on the bus to / from the RDS for our amazing Strictly Night
- Seeing Aideen & Ronan carrying the flag and representing the Club in Croke Park for the Laochra 1916 Commemoration
- The Under 15 Girls championship final win in St Annes
