Incoming Executive

Delighted to confirm that the appointments of Maurice O’Connell (Chairman), TJ Farrelly (Vice Chair) and Ramona Kennedy, (Registrar) were ratified by the Executive of the Club earlier this week.  We wish the incoming executive and all office holders the very best for the year ahead.  You can see all the details of our Club officers on our website here.

2017 is going to be OUR year…We want YOU to dictate our direction. Have your say in the upcoming Scoil Census…

 Adults

Our Under 21s lost out in their football championship game on Saturday last v Trinity Gaels, final score 2-10 to 0-11.  While there was only one more score converted by Gaels they made the most of their chances converting two goals where their experience and physical strength counted. The Scoil side showed some great flair and a strong attacking style and were unlucky not to have added more scores.  It was also great to see the coaching input from current senior players Conor Coady, Declan Devane, Alan Cronin and Eoin O’Carroll.

Juveniles

Lots of teams are on a break for Christmas and there are Christmas parties / events underway.  The Under 15s enjoyed their trip to Carlingford and the Under 13/15 Girls had a party in the Clubhouse on Saturday last.  (Rumours that the Under 11 Girls are planning a training session on Christmas Eve?)

Watch out for a cinema trip for our younger teams in early January too!

Nursery

After an eventful year, the final nursery session of 2016 was held last Saturday. This was a very special occasion for our U7 group who said a fond goodbye to the nursery and will be playing ‘Go-Games’ from early in the new year. To celebrate this milestone, every U7 player received a special Certificate of Achievement on Saturday to recognise their mastery of foundation football and hurling skills. The delight on players’ faces showed how much this accolade and the nursery means to them.  It was also great to see all the supporters cheering on this group with parents, guardian and younger players in the audience.

This Saturday, there will be no nursery as preparations will be underway for Santa’s annual visit that afternoon. The U7 (yellow group) have an away football match at Chraobh Chiaráin.

Gaelic for Mothers & Others (GFMO)

Delighted to hear that we’ve had a fabulous 28 ladies join us for the last 6 weeks of training and they finished tonight for Christmas. The Ladies are having the first of many social gatherings on Sat 17th in the Clubhouse. A Ladies only night!! We shall be recruiting on that night too so any ladies over 18 are free to join us for more information and a tipple or two…..

‘Mentors & Helpers’ night

We had a lovely night in the Clubhouse last Saturday to show our appreciation for our Mentors & Helpers.  There was plenty of chat among the members and it was a good opportunity to catch up with different aspects of the club.  Great to see our GPO Thomas in attendance too.  Everyone enjoyed the hot finger food and great value drinks on the night.

Dressing room upgrade

The work on the Dressing Rooms is progressing well and great to see the new security lights installed as we get to the more detailed aspects of the project.

We hope to be open for business in Jan 2017 and there are plans for an official opening ceremony too!

All members and friends are welcome to attend on what is always a great evening.

Bag Packing – Friday 23 December

Delighted to let you know that after our wonderful ‘bag packing’ performance in 2015 we have been allocated the most important slot in the shopping calendar by Nolans for 2016.  We are dividing the day into  six two hour slots so we will have six separate teams on the tills with six people needed at a time.  This is also a great opportunity to promote the Club in the local area and encourage people to learn more about the Scoil story.

Available between 8-10am or 10am-12 noon?  Contact TJ Farrelly at 086 8326644 now!

End of Season Party – Saturday 28 January 2017
The Club’s End of Season Party will take place on the last Saturday in January.  Clontarf Castle is the venue on Saturday 28 January 2017.  Ticket prices are again being held at €30 and like last year we are holding the party in the Great Hall.  It promises to be a great night as we celebrate all our achievements of 2016 and as we get ready to commence the 2017 season.

Tickets can now be booked by contacting Declan Hoban (087-6539943), Joan Cushen (087-2222650), Ronan Murphy (087-9295105) or Tiarnan Crowe (087-6492316).

Looking forward to meeting Santa on Saturday!
