Adult games
The adult footballers had another win in the Division 2 league on Saturday evening, this time against a very fast and physical Round Towers, Clondalkin. The action was ‘end to end’ with six goals and two converted penalties in the mix. This was a game where the team showed great maturity and composure particularly in the final quarter to close out the game. Another fantasic performance from Conor Coady at midfield supported by great kick outs from keeper Andy Bunyan and some well taken scores including goals from Neil O’Flynn, Tiarnán Crowe and the penalty from Conor Dixon ensured a winning performance. Next up is a home game v St Annes on 23 July at 6.30pm
The junior footballers had a walkover from Garda in their Division 7 game. The final round of league games before the (short) summer break take place on 23/24 July.
Good performances by the Minor Hurlers in the Division 2 league in the last week with a win on Wednesday v Naomh Fionnbarra and a loss by the narrowest margin in their game v St Sylvesters in Malahide on Sunday morning. The lads were back to the football league tonight and despite a make shift team they secured a one point won over Naomh Fionnbarra in the Bogies. Always a good result! Man of the match Robert Kennedy, was supported by Eoghan McKay at full back, Mark and Sam in the half back line and Monty at full forward. The final scoreline was 1-13 to 0-15. Well done lads!
The Ladies had another big win this evening in the final round of the championship competition. This was an excellent team performance in tricky conditions in Portmarnock. Special mention for Katie Doolin who had a great game, playing one half in goal, before heading off on her travels for a year – best of luck Katie!
Delighted to report that the hurlers had a very good win away to Commercials in the Intermediate Championship on Wednesday evening in Rathcoole. Playing against the wind in the first half we opened the game well with Barry Cushen converting a penalty. However Commercials converted their frees to keep the game close with Scoil two points ahead at half time. A strong second half performance saw some excellent defending from Adam Wilson, Eoin Kennedy and Sean McDonagh to keep the opposing forwards under huge pressure. Great scores were added by Barry along with Michael McCluskey, Alistair Cassidy, Joe Ryan and probably the highlight from Paraic Naughton from the sideline. A goal close to the final whistle saw the score line a bit closer than the game suggested.
There are hurling league games next weekend with the AHL3 game in the Club on Saturday at 6.30pm and the AHL9 game away on Sunday afternoon.
Support for all games is greatly appreciated by the players and management.
