Looking forward to the Dublin v Kerry game on Sunday!

Adult games

It was a close game in St Annes on Saturday evening as the Division 2 league recommenced after the summer break.  A good competitive game despite the conditions saw Clontarf edge the win by a point.  Plenty to work on for the next fixture which is scheduled for Sat 3 Sept v Templeogue Synge Street.  We had great support in St Annes on Saturday night despite the poor conditions.

Well done to the ladies who had a great win tonight away to Kilmacud Crokes in the Cup.  Special mention for Sinead deBurca who flew in this morning from Croatia and had a fine game this evening.  The win guarantees a home semi final for the Cup and details will be circulated shortly.

Delighted to confirm that we are through to the intermediate hurling championship Quarter Final.  The game v Cuala is set for Saturday next 27 August in Shanganagh Park @ 6pm.

Support for all games is greatly appreciated by the players and management.

Juveniles

Under 15 Boys Scoil 4-20  Ballyboden B 2-8

A big win for the Under 15 boys in their league v Ballyboden following the summer break.  Killian was very pleased with the effort put in by all the lads and there was some great talent on show.

Under 13 girls’ outing

Owing to illness in the bus drivers’ family our trip to Clara Lara last Saturday was cancelled. When we saw the awful weather we were all delighted that we opted for Sports link in Santry instead. There the girls played basketball and other ball games. This was followed by a swim where they made the most of the slides. They ended the morning with their choice of meal and a goodie bag. Fourteen girls with wet hair and smiling faces emerged at the end of a busy morning. Some of the parents took the opportunity to make plans for Feile and choose the 3rd December as the date for the girls’ Christmas party. So put it in your diaries folks. Thanks to the parents who helped with lifts and especially to Sinead and Martina who helped with the organisation and to Grainne whose services as a basketball coach wasn’t necessary but who, as usual, was willing to help.  First match next Saturday in Clondalkin at 3pm. Under 17 Ladies

Just to mention that in addition to Ciara and Jonathan’s involvement, we are also represented on the Under 17 team by Emma Condon.  Unfortunately Emma’s holidays clashed with the recent National tournament but we hope to see her in a Dublin jersey again very soon.

Charity Song

Stephen Leeson, (Shay Leeson’s dad from our u-15 team) is a multi talented individual. Stephen and the Dublin Army 2016 have recorded a special Dublin football song for the Hospice charities & Shay also sang on the chorus. Joanne Courtney Club GPO

After 5 years with Scoil, our wonderful Games Promotion Officer, Joanne Courtney is leaving the club job to commence her new career in primary teaching. Joanne has been a great coach for the Club with lots of enthusiasm, organization and commitment as well as the obvious skills of an All Ireland winner. She has also been a fantastic ambassador for the Club in all her interaction with schools and clubs throughout Dublin.  Her most recent achievement was being part of the winning couple in our brilliant Strictly Scoil Dancing event.  We have been very lucky to keep Joanne for five years despite several attempts from other clubs. To mark Joanne’s departure we are holding a special party in the Clubhouse on Saturday 10 September from 9pm.  We hope you can join us to mark the occasion and to wish Joanne all the best in her new career!

New Contributors always WELCOME. Match reports / team news / player updates are always welcome – send them on anytime for inclusion in the Club news!

For those who have been asking, Peter Morley is now based in the Mater Hospital in Room 10, St Gabriel’s Ward.  He is on the road to recovery and we continue to wish him all the best.

Fingers crossed for a Dublin semi final double this weekend!
