Always a great week leading up to the All Ireland Final!
Adult games
A very strong defensive performance provided the platform for the Scoil win in their important Division 3 league game away to Ballyboden last Saturday evening. Excellent performances from Adam Wilson and Kevin Purcell to close down the ‘Boden attack while Conor Coady at full back cleared out any goal chances. A great contribution too from Michael McCluskey who added four points from play when he joined the attack in the second half. Next game is away to Round Towers Clondalkin on 24 September.
The second team also secured a league win at the weekend with a good competitive game against Erins Isle in Clontarf on Sunday afternoon. The lads play Na Fianna on 25 September in Collinstown.
Adult football league games are set for this weekend on both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. The AFL2 game throws in at the earlier time of 5.30pm on Saturday while the Division 7 game is at 10.30am on Sunday. Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter in case of any late changes.
Support for all games is greatly appreciated by the players and management.
Juveniles
Nursery parents’ information session (Sat 10th)
The nursery returned on Saturday last (10th Sept) and it was great to see a big crowd enjoying our coaching and facilities. A short parents’ information session took place in the clubhouse at 10:15 and was very well received by all in attendance. The information document is available to view here and I would recommend everyone to have a look as it shows the great organization and enthusiasm involved in our Nursery. New and returning players are always welcome!
Under 8s
The Under 8s hosted a hurling Blitz in the Club on Saturday morning and it was great to see the enthusiasm and skill on show in the mini games in a pack Clontarf. We welcomed three visiting teams and the mentors had the pitches set up along with the car park and dressing rooms. Everyone got a medal for their participation along with a goodie bag which were individually packed by the organising team. Well done to all involved.
Under 9s
Scoil U9 Hurlers were on the road again on Sat morning albeit a short trip to Craobh Ciarans GAA. Both games heavily contested with some extra “bite” shown by Team Liam Ryan players, who came away with a draw this morning. Liam was delighted with Diarmuid M, who has had two cracking games back to back which was great to see/hear.
Team Jp managed to pull off an unexpected win with last hit of game due to the fantastic drive and determination of one of our newer kids Conor ! Fair play to all for fighting to the very end to steal the win!! We welcomed a new addition, young Ronan, to our panel today and he showed the required attitude/ Desire for Our Scoil U9’s when he came on. Also delighted to see Sophie/Eabha/Ella/Sadhbh getting stuck in to opposition also.
U9’S Mentors are hoping to have an open meeting with the parents, over the next couple of weeks – Will keep you posted. Finally delighted to see Alex Courtney out on crutches supporting his team mates this morning. UP SCOIL(JP)
Under 13 girls
Our under thirteen girls took on Na Fianna last week and what a performance. From the throw in each one of them played their hearts out and made us proud. The late start ensured that some of our girls had to leave early and we had two wonderful subs from the under 11 team. In a small club like ours It’s marvellous that there is such co-operation from the various teams to ensure that we can meet all our fixtures. Our girls did everything we asked of them and it was definitely a case of mol na h-oige. The excited clapping at the end of the game showed just how much this great performance meant to mentors and parents alike. Well done girls keep it up. The fact that we have many under twelve players playing under thirteen means the girls don’t often get a chance to play at their own age and level so this week we have arranged a special under twelve match just for them on Saturday. I am sure they will show off all their skills once again.
Under 15 Boys Clontarf B 1-14 Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-14
A great second half performance by the Under 15s last Sunday morning included two goals from Eoin Sterio. The win sees them through to the next round of the Shield with a game v O’Tooles on 9 October.
Minor Football
A big win for the minor footballers away to St Olafs on Sunday morning in the championship. Plenty of good scores, both goals and points in this game, as the lads proved too strong for their opponents. The highlight for the supporters was the performance of Scoil’s Tomás O’Connell who scored two great goals, one with a McMemamin style shuffle, and provided some pinpoint passes to his team mates for their scores. Also great to see Conor Farrelly back on the field as he returns from injury. It’s back to hurling action next Sunday with a game v Cuala in the championship.
Club Development / Refurbishment of Dressing Rooms / Showers/ Toilets / Gym under the Sports Capital Programme
Delighted to report that The Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport has approved our choice of Griffin Construction Services to carry out the refurbishment works. This means that the players can look forward to the upgraded facilities in 2016 as we had hoped.
The refurbishment works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 20th September.
Once the refurbishment works commence, the dressing room building will be closed and teams or players will have no access to the building. We will keep you informed of developments as they progress during the coming weeks.

Farewell party for Joanne
We had a lovely night in the Clubhouse last Saturday to mark Joanne’s departure. Declan Hoban, our Club Chairman looked after the speeches and made a presentation to Joanne of some Club memorabilia and a specially engraved clock. Her dancing skills were also commented on by everyone who saw her win our Strictly Scoil event as well as her great commitment, enthusiasm and organisationJoanne also received lots of cards and gifts from teams which she was delighted with. Miss Courtney is now teaching in East Wall and has met some Club members in her new career. We will be keeping in touch with Joanne who is a great ambassador for the Club.
