Meet Sinéad de Búrca
How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill?
I’ve been involved with scoil for as long as i can remember, I started in the nursery when aged 3 or 4.
Where do you hail from?
Clontarf
How did you come to be involved in Scoil?
My family joined originally through Scoil Neasáin and because we live locally.
Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any.
I’ve played with scoil right up from nursery to the ladies team. I started playing in goal when i was 8 for the u10s and now somehow play full forward with the ladies! I coached at the camps and the nursery for a few years before i finished school and just this year I started helping out with the Gaelic for Mothers and Others team (which, by the way, are always recruiting new players!!).
What would you say you are most known for within Scoil? i.e. what do people associate you with?
I’m probably know as ‘one of the de Búrcas’ more often than not and associated with the ladies team and more recently the GAA for Mothers and Others team following on from our successful Beach Ball fundraiser.
What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement?
Being part of Scoil’s first ladies minor team was pretty special and a huge step for the ladies section of the club.
What is your profession / field of study / passion?
I’ve just finished my second year studying Physiotherapy.
What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA?
Cycling and running
If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be?
Flood lights around the pitch would be brilliant so we don’t have to steal light from the tennis club in the winter and a big hall on the grounds would be great for winter training.
What is your favourite Scoil ‘quirk’?
I don’t know if it’s a quirk but I love being able to spot the scoil jersey a mile away through any hedge in a park, it’s hard to miss!
If you close your eyes and envisage Scoil in 10 years, what do you see?
I see Scoil growing in numbers and competing competitively at every level, both men and ladies sections, with the same strong sense of community in the club, always welcoming new members.

Adult Men’s Games
The Senior Footballers had a mixed week as they were beaten by St Olafs on Wednesday in Sandyford and earned a hard fought point in a draw on Saturday vs Fingal Ravens in Clontarf; which leaves them in a strong position to secure a playoff spot in AFL2.
The AFL7 side dug deep on Sunday morning to secure two important points in their bid to make playoffs, with an excellent last minute display from the Kennedy brothers, David & Robert, who scored a last ditch goal and point respectively.
The adult teams are now on a break from fixtures for the next few weeks which will allow some recuperation before playoff and championship success is sought as 4 of the 5 teams are still in contention for 6 competitions in this late stage of the season!
