Scoil 1:20 Crokes 3.8 – IHC ¼ Final – Friday Sept 1st @ Clontarf Rd
Friday 1st Sept was a beautiful night for a game of hurling. The pitch was perfect having been recently cut, the new goalmouths first baptism of fire, a good crowd, 4 scary looking individuals in white coats guarding the goals. Everything was set for a crucial game in our quest to play SENIOR hurling championship next year.
The Scoil team was up for the battle, and it certainly was that. The score after 6 minutes was Scoil 0-4 Crokes 1-3. From the 10th minute Scoil took over and tacked on 9 points to 1 for Crokes to leave the half time score Scoil 0-13 to Crokes 1.4. In the first half the Crokes keeper had pulled off some great saves to keep them in the game.
Crokes started the second half in a rush and scored the first two scores of the second half, and by half way through the second half Scoil led by 2 points. Scoil tacked on 1.6 including a penalty by Barry to 2.3 from Crokes leaving a final score of Scoil 1:20 Crokes 3.8. There was some heroic defending on the night by Scoil.
Scorers on the night:
Barry 1.9, Eoin O’Carroll 3, Podge Naughton & Ruairi 2 each, Andy, Padraig Kinsella, Joe & Neil 1 point each.
Next game v Na Fianna on Saturday 16th @5pm Venue TBC.

Under 14 girls
Scoil v Clanna Gael 5/9/2017
How it all played out
We were apprehensive about this game because the opposition scored eleven goals in their last match. We were right to be nervous because by half time to scores were nail bitingly level. Clanna Gael opened the second half with the first point. It was a ding dong battle all the way after that until just before end when Scoil started to come out on top with some lovely points and two quick goals. The ref commented afterwards that it was a great game of football and Larry was ecstatic as he went to text the score to the board. Scoil 5.16 to Clanna Gael 6.7
Who were the star performers / scorers
Every girl played her part in this win and there were some marvellous passes to the scorers who were Caoimhe, Holly, Abby and Siofra Malone. There must be some very tired legs tonight because all the girls ran the length of the pitch over and over again.
What’s up next
Training on Saturday at 11a.m on pitch 22
Under 15/14
v Na Fianna 2/9/2017 Home
How it all played out
Dublin had not as many subs as the under 15’s on Saturday. Helped by the under 14’s this was a match to remember with eight substitutions being made during the game.
Na Fianna didn’t know what hit them as the Scoil girls swung into action with an early goal. It was really Scoil all the way and a pleasure to see the girls putting into action all they had been learning in training. The final score of 9.14 to Na Fianna’s 3.3. said it all.
Under 14/15
Skills session 1/9/2017
Nineteen enthusiastic girls took part in a skills session organised by Jonathan last Friday night. He took the girls in groups of five while the rest had great fun practising kicking with their left feet. It has to be said that there were some very peculiar shots in this exercise! When he finished his tests he spoke like a priest in confession to each girl individually telling them what skill they needed to practise. He has promised to do another session after a few months to see how much they have improved. Nineteen girls went home smiling. Thank you Jonathan.
Who were the star performers / scorers
We believe scores are made by team effort and no forward can score unless given the ball by her teammates. In fact our backs were also in scoring mode on the day. We were immensely proud of the good natured spirit of the girls as they were substituted for anotherplayer.

Scoil U10 Footballers
vs Ballymun Kickhams Sat 02/09/17 at Stag Park
How it all played out
1ST Football Game back post summer and the U10 juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down!!
Two great games with excellent link up between the lads on both teams this morning.
Unfortunately opposition lost a player to red card but Scoil kids well used to riding rough play at this stage.
Who were the star performers / scorers
Conaill MCC had a stormer in midfield for Team Liam Ryan while his brother Neil did likewise for Team Jp.
Great to see scoring from all angles today from the lads & welcome another kid into the fold (Kyle-Great Debut was had)

u9 Camogie
Despite the poor weather conditions 21 players travelled to St Maurs on Sunday morning. The fixture was supposed to be an u9 Camogie Blitz but with 3 other clubs pulling out was a straight shoot out between Scoil and host St Maurs. While the results were one win each we’ll definitely claim a convincing win 5 – 2 on aggregate.
Scoil were represented by Aisling, Taiya, Orlaith, Eabha, Aishat, Aibhilin, Aoibhinn C, Roisin, Nessa, Simone, Caoimhe, Cliodhna, Sadhbh, Ciara, Abbey, Aoife, Aoibhinn G, Lauren, Emily, Niamh and Ella.
A special mention for Aoibhinn Ní Cuinneagáin Breathnach who despite being one of the newest players scored a great goal and our youngest player Roisín Curtin who really got stuck in.

Nursery
Scoil Nursery returned to glorious weather last Saturday morning with over 60 kids taking part. It was clear to see that the summer break did not stop anyone from practicing with everyone improving greatly. No doubt the summer camps helped here as well.
The yellows (born 2011 and 2012) were put through their paces by our GPO Thomas who ensured that everyone was having great fun with new games. The greens (born 2011) really stepped up with great kicking in football and striking in hurling. Great to see the large number of girls in this group. Finally the blues/academy players (born in 2010) showed great awareness and appetite for learning which will help them greatly as they get ready for playing matches as under 8’s in 2018. As always thanks to all the parents who helped out in any way and this support really helps the nursery coaches. The players of the week were Orla, Gene and Roisin & Conor.
Scoil Academy will return next Wednesday evening the 6th of September for those born in 2010 and 2011. We plan to continue running the Wednesday night until the mid-term break at the end of October (weather depending)
We will be having some of our now annual events coming up soon such as a Halloween party as well as a table quiz. We will send out more details closer to the time.
