A New Chapter for Senior Football

The Club are delighted to announce that Tom McNamee AKA Tmac will be the new Senior Football Manager!

Tom has a wealth of experience and proven success in both club and inter-county set-ups across the country, and made a massive impact in assisting Declan O’Sulllivan last year.

We were delighted to learn that Tom has further ambitions for the success of Scoil Football and is eager to take this fantastic group onto their next phase of success.

Tom will be at the Scoil Social with his wife Anne so be sure to introduce yourself!

Central Bank of Scoil team up with OSC

Former Scoil Senior Manager / Central Bank Manager Declan O’Sullivan and Scoil Senior Footballer / O’Connell Primary teacher Tiarnan Crowe – through an initiative between the Central Bank of Ireland Junior Achievement – ran a 6 week curriculum called ‘Our Universe’ with 6th class boys from O’Connell Primary School throughout November and December.

The boys were invited to the impressive new CBI Headquarters on North Wall Quay where they were presented with their certificates by the two men who made it happen, as well as Scoil Senior Footballer Niall Doherty and Scoil veteran Johnny Meagher; who both also work in CBI. The day continued with a tour of the Visitor Centre and inspiring career talks from colleagues at the Bank.

The feedback from the project was extremely positive – it was described as a “brilliant experience” where the kids were “respectful, engaging, fun, interested, clever –  a really brilliant bunch”.

How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill?
About 17 years, since Killian started nursery.

Do you have any nicknames? How do you like to be addressed?
Not that I’m aware of!

Where do you hail from?
I hail from the real capital & was brought up in Ballycotton, east Cork.

How did you come to be involved in Scoil?
As a parent bringing my son to nursery.

Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any
The majority of my time has been spent on the sidelines supporting the boys. In the last 2 years, thanks to the persistence of Joan Cushen, I was involved in the refurbishment of the club house & organisation of our ‘Abba Girls’ night.

What would you say you are most known for within Scoil?
Most recently as one of the ‘Super Trooper’ girls but in general for chauffeuring my sons to training & matches.

What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement?
Highlight was a couple of years ago watching Scoil beat Clontarf in the Hurling playoff final.

What is your profession / field of study / passion?
I worked in A.I.B for most if my career & I am currently working in an Opticians.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA?
I enjoy running.

If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be?
Would be great to have floodlights so lads could train there all year.

What is your favourite Scoil ‘quirk’?
Seeing the kids after training in the Scoil colours, sitting up at the windows on a sat morning tucking into their jellies.

If you close your eyes and envisage Scoil in 10 years, what do you see?
Next generation coming through & club going from strength to strength.

Finally, if you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be and why?
A fish – brought up by the sea so love being out & about in the water.
