National Club Draw Tickets

The National Club Draw 2018 has now been launched by Croke Park. This is a great opportunity for clubs to raise funds and there is no costs associated with the draw for clubs.

100% of all proceeds are retained by the clubs.

Tickets are €10 each and are printed in books of 5 tickets. Scoil’s target is to sell 2,000 tickets!

If you have not received an allocation of tickets please contact your team mentor. Tickets are to be returned by 31st January.

The GAA National Club Draw will take place on Friday, March 11th 2016.

Blue Stags

In case you missed it, some Scoil players have been busy representing Dublin recently!

After her hard work over the summer months training with the U17 Development Squad, Hannah Leahy was put forward for the Dublin Minor trials. We are now delighted to announce that she has been named the Dublin Minor Vice-Captain for 2018.

Andy Bunyan’s recent success against Offaly in the O’Byrne Cup opener, has resulted in his name featuring in the Dublin Senior Football League squad.

The annual Junior Dubs Stars Challenge was played in DCU last Sunday. Molly Power was selected to represent Scoil Ui Conaill Ladies. Molly played on the Blue team and was given the task of marking Clara O`Sullivan, one of the best young players in Dublin. The game ended in a narrow win for the Navy team 6-9 to 5-11. Further pictures from the game can be viewed on this link.

Each player chosen as a Junior Dub Star received a full Dub Stars kit along with a special commemorative medal.

Chairman’s New Year Message

On behalf of the Club we would like to wish all Members their families a Happy New Year

Training is back underway and we are heartened by the great turn outs for all teams, it is important that this effort continues throughout the year.

As you can see when attending the Club, improvements have been made to the lighting of the pitch and importantly the car park. This on the back of the extension to the dressing rooms and improvement of the gym facilities is helping us reach the targets we aspire to as a Club.  For the year ahead we will be competing at a higher level in both Ladies Football (Division 3) and Hurling (Division 2) joining our Mens footballers at the same high standard.

However all these improvements come with a cost. You will or should have received by now tickets for the GAA National Draw. These tickets are expensive at €10 each, however the funds in full return to the Club and there are no costs for the Club’s participation in the draw.

We have set a target of selling as close to 2,000 tickets as possible which would generate €20,000. If we were successful in selling our full complement of tickets it would put us in a position to be the largest seller of the tickets on a National level which would result in extra funds coming to the Club.

We would really appreciate a big effort from you, our Members in selling these tickets.  The funds will be used to meet the ongoing costs of running our Club from Nursery, Juvenile games to adult Ladies and Mens teams.

If you have not received an allocation of tickets please contact your team mentor. Tickets are to be returned by 31st January

Again best wishes to all teams and Members for the sporting year 2018!

Mossie O Connell

Meet Hannah Leahy!

Even with a late start to football, this GAA-mad girlo runs rings around her markers - not only at club level but on the intercounty sphere too! Dublin Minor Vice-Captain 2018, we sure are lucky to have her on Scoil soil!

How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill?
I’ve been involved in Scoil since I was about 9

Do you have any nicknames? How do you like to be addressed?
None that I know off!

Where do you hail from? i.e. county, country, suburb etc.
Dublin

How did you come to be involved in Scoil?
I went to watch my cousins match at u10s and ended up playing it

Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any.
Editor’s note: Hannah was too modest to answer this question…
Hannah has been a star player on every underage team that she has been a part of. She has had various stints with Dublin at underage level and due to her hard work on the Dublin U17 Development Squad during the summer, she has been named as the Dublin Minor Vice-Captain for 2018. Hannah was also a massive influence in the Ladies’ team’s success last year. She also coaches at the Scoil camps during the summer.

What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement?
Improving each year as a team and winning the league

What is your profession / field of study / passion?
I’m currently studying for the leaving cert

What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA?
I don’t have any other hobbies – I don’t think I’d fit any others in #loyaltothegaa

If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be?
One addition I’d love to make would be to wear a jersey that is not down to me knees!
