Super Scoil Sunday:
Minor & Junior Hurling Finals
Unless you consider Arsenal vs Bournemouth or Wolves vs Huddersfield to be something worth turning your head for, there can be no disputing that Super Sunday belongs to Scoil this weekend.
With our Minor Footballs (amalgamation team with O’Toole’s known as St Paul’s) playing Ballyboden at 10.30am in O’Toole Park, and our AHL9 Hurlers playing St Pat’s Palmerstown at 2,30pm in Glenaulin Park your Sunday is sorted!
Luckily, both pitches are on the same side of the city making it logistically easy, as you can see below.
Before you say it, we know what you’re thinking: “What am I going to do for the two hours in between?”
Well, we’ve taken the liberty of researching some handy places in between the two destinations which might be of some interest:
-
Visit the O’Neill’s Warehouse and grab a few stocking fillers for Xmas, or invest in the new Dublin jersey.
-
Pop into the Landsdowne Valley Pitch & Putt Course and get some practice in while bringing the emotions down after the Minor match
-
Grab a coffee & a bite to eat in The Farmhouse Cafe & Bakery — fuel up before the next round of action!
-
Or really go for something different and visit the The Rink — Dublin’s ONLY Roller Disco!
U12 Final Win
Congratulations to our U12 Hurlers who finished their season a high with their League Final win over Round Towers Clondalkin in Clontarf on Saturday afternoon.
We’ll let the slideshow below tell the story…

Boys born in 2009 appeal
The u9 coaches’ attention is already turning to 2019! We believe that we have the makings of a super squad, but have room for a few more players.
If you have a school friend, neighbour or relative who was born in 2009, bring them along for fun, friendship and fitness. If they have tried other clubs in the past and didn’t fit in, they will find our club and team culture completely different to larger clubs. Alternatively, if they have not played GAA previously, we will devote time and attention to help develop their skills.
So, please tell John or Cormac if you know anyone who was born in 2009 and might be interested in joining our team.

U9s were swinging in the rain
U9 Boys Hurling
U9s were swinging in the rain
On a morning when the skies opened up, our U9s opened their shoulders and delivered another stylish performance against St Finians.
With recent advances in skill levels, many players were lifting the ball for the first time in a match and you could see the confidence grow with each little success.
Thanks also to the parents and supporters for cheering us on from the side-line despite the elements. This support makes a huge difference to players and is greatly appreciated by coaches.
Playing into a strong breeze in the first half, the Maroon team took some excellent long-range scores and defended strongly when Finians were attacking. Aodh had another fine game and chased every ball with great determination. Matthew tormented the Finian’s defence and scored a cracking goal. Sam took a heavy knock but bravely came back with even more determination.
The second half continued the exhibition of accurate passing to set up long range points. Sean showed great skill by jab lifting on the run, soloing to get away from his opponents and striking on the run. This was one of the best pieces of skill that we have seen all year and deserved a score. Unfortunately, on this occasion the wind took the sliotar just wide but no doubt we will see this move many times in the future.
A superb performance by the Amber team on Saturday was made all the more satisfying by the amount of “air hurling” on show. In the first half, Eoin’s puc outs hit their target every time with Brodie always first in chasing down any breaking ball. At one point in the second half Oisin got the ball into his hand on the right touchline and swung a tremendous effort at the top corner of the goal. On another day it would have gone straight in but on this occasion the goalkeeper was equal to it. The best move of the match came when Conall picked the ball up in defence and launched it up to Noah in the corner forward position. After a deft lift Noah whipped it across the goal to where Rory was arriving. Without pausing to think, Rory pulled straight down on the sliotar and hit it just inches wide. It was a move that had even opposition coaches applauding. Well done to all the yellows and especially to Eoin who was the first man to volunteer to play with the opposition in the second half.
The blue team was involved in the match of the day with both teams showing exceptional effort considering the weather conditions. Our boys fought for every ball, chased every opponent down and tackled with such force that every parent cheering on from the sideline was proud. Fionán had a super game in defence, winning lots of ball and striking it long to his forwards. Jeaic had a tremendous game in midfield and tacked hard all day. He got a reward for all this hard work by scoring a brilliant goal. Darragh also showed great skill and tenacity and never gave up tackling and passing. He must have had an extra Weetabix (or maybe birthday treats!) for his breakfast.
Special mention to Faoláin who is recovering from injury (non GAA related!) – the boys and coaches wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to your return to play.
