Team News
Adult Footballers: Adult footballers got off to a less than desirable start over the weekend, with all three teams losing their fixtures. Senior footballers were beaten by Clontarf, and both junior teams lost to Innisfails and St. Vincent’s, respectively. The performances of each team were encouraging though, and the emphasis has been placed on focusing on performance over result. Keep up the hard work and the results will begin to show. Up Scoil!
U12’s: Scoil travelled to Deer park for round two of football grading leagues. Scoil started brightly and controlled possession confidently for the first five minutes. The home side came into the game but Scoil hit some well worked scores against the wind and up the hill in the opening half. Scoil were very solid at the back with the hard working defense conceding very few scores to the home side.
Scoil continued to dominate the second half and despite conceding a few goals against the run of play it was an impressive away win for this ambitious bunch.
Scoil: Luke, Fahad, Conor, Fionn, Alan, Alex, Conal, Addi, Oran, Adam, Liam, Nathan, Aurelian. Subs: Tadgh for Liam, Tadgh for Aurelian, Alex for Nathan.

U10’s: The under 10s got their season off to a great start against St Finians on Saturday at Alfie Byrne road pitches.
Team John were involved in a game of two halves, where a slow start was followed by a barnstorming second half. We had worked on tackling on Wednesday night and it was great to see our players use this very important skill during the match. Orson showed that he has been paying attention during training and did some super shadowing and tackling to keep his opponents from scoring. Darragh had an excellent game with some wonderful tackling and covering. In fact, we scored two goals in the second half because he cleverly tackled his opponents and kicked the ball long into his forwards. Paddy Pringle was another player who caught the eye with some strong running into space to receive passes from his midfielders and defenders. This clever movement resulted in Paddy scoring 2 goals and two points in the second half. Michael Murphy had better watch out as there is a new Donegal sharp shooter in town!
Team Cormac put in a scintillating performance full of passing and movement. The recent team mantra is that you can’t play without having the ball and with this in mind Scoil’s players were almost always first to anticipate all over the pitch. Brodie in particular won countless balls from kick-outs and laid the platform for many scores. Aibhilín, helping us out on the day, always took the right passing option and there were many willing runners off the shoulder for her to handpass to. Rhys on his first outing for the team brought a new dimension as a target man up front and got some good scores. Once he has his solo perfected, he’ll be hard to stop. Overall it was the fact that it was a great team performance that was most satisifying and everyone played an important part. This was encapsulated by one superb score where three runners overlapped down the right, and then crossed the ball into the middle to Matthew who smashed it over from 20 yards.
Onwards and upwards – this Saturday we play Finians again – this time in hurling.
U8’s: A busy week for the under 8s who had their debut match in the league against a three team squad from Finians in Swords. There was great excitement from all sides including the three referees who were also making their debut. The sense of occasion and enthusiasm meant the play continued for over 75 minutes and tested the fitness levels of our players. All the teams played well and were able to defend and score in equal measure and showed great determination throughout the matches.
The matches were retweeted by Dublin GAA so the news has spread wide and far that this is a team to watch!
Back in Gormanston on Sunday for the penultimate week and a great win was secured against local rivals Raheny.
