FESTIVE FUN

Santa Claus will make a visit to the Clubhouse on Sat 9th December. between 4pm and 6pm. There will be a ticket system in operation and the visit will be €5 per child. In order to reduce the congestion of previous years, Santa’s Grotto will be in the dressing room so please go to the Clubhouse to buy your ticket on the day. Tea/Coffee and  festive treats will be available in the bar while you wait for your ticket number to be called. For those wanting something more substantial to eat, TJ will be running the BBQ.

Our very first Christmas Gift Fair will run throughout the afternoon so you can squeeze in some shopping while you are there. The Gift Fair will open one hour before Santa’s arrival  for anyone wishing to avoid the rush or the little people! Pop in and join the festive fun in Scoil on Saturay 9th December.

COMPETITION TIME

Have you say, make you mark, and name the most popular Scoil Social event of the year…and, of course, WIN A FREE TICKET!

Submit your answers here by Dec 5th.

Save the Date in your Calendar now for January 20th @8pm in the main hall of Clontarf Castle.

The theme for the competition is ‘Everybody’s Invited’. A large motivation for the renaming is to give it a name which alludes to an event open to all friends of Scoil – playing / non-playing, members / parents of members, new & old friends – and so that we can continue to be one of the most well integrated Clubs in Dublin!

Training the next generation of Scoil stars, this man has left behind a love of Waterford hurling for bigger and better things..

How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill?
Since 2015 as a parent and 2016 as a nursery coach!!

Do you have any nicknames? How do you like to be addressed?
No. By my name Ruairi and NOT Rory.

Where do you hail from?
Tramore, however I have been in Dublin since I started college 20 years ago. Living in Artane now.

How did you come to be involved in Scoil?
As a parent bringing my son to nursery.

Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any.
I have spent the last two years in the nursery, with the U8s, back to the U7s and the academy team and now back in the nursery encouraging my then 4 year old, now 5 year son to participate in the fun games and training. The hard work has paid off as he loves it now!

What would you say you are most known for within Scoil?
Saturday mornings nursery and my animal impersonations in the warm-up.

What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement?
My greatest moment is seeing the yellows (youngest players) master a hand pass or another skill.

What is your profession / field of study / passion?
Agricultural inspector in the Dept of Ag. My passion is hurling, Waterford hurling….next year.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA?
Running and DIY.

If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be?
All weather pitch, flood lights, railings around the car park.

What is your favourite Scoil ‘quirk’?
The friendly welcoming atmosphere that is experienced by all that join.

If you close your eyes and envisage Scoil in 10 years, what do you see?
The current U8s playing senior football and hurling.

Finally, if you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be and why?
Cheetah as I am very fast…
