HURLERS HIT NEW HEIGHTS
A convincing performance on Sunay morning against St. Sylvesters saw Scoil recover from eight points down to claim a great victory at the final whistle. This victory secures their spot in the playoff final next weekend.
A win on Sunday against Round Towers, Clondalkin will see the Scoil hurlers return to Senior hurling for the first time in over fifteen years. It’s a big one. Get out and show your support this Sunday 19th Nov at 11am in Monastery Rd #UpScoil
NURSERY TABLE QUIZ
The Nursery mentors are holding their annual Table Quiz this Friday, November 17th in the clubhouse at 8:00pm. The price is €10 per person with a maximum of 4 people per team. Plenty of raffle and spot prizes up for grabs on the night. Everyone is welcome to come along to what is always a good night and help raise funds for our youngest members.
MEET ANDY BUNYAN
How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill? I’ve been reliably informed that this is my 20th year in Scoil.
Do you have any nicknames? How do you like to be addressed? Andy (obviously) and Buno are the two names most likely to get a response from me.
Where do you hail from? Artane, D5’s finest.
How did you come to be involved in Scoil? A friend was a juvenile member through the clubs association with Scoil Neasain and after a brief soccer career was coaxed down to Clontarf Road.
Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any.
Dual player for the AFL2 and AHL3 Adult teams. Coached the very successful Ladies 2nd team some years back and helped our U21 hurlers to an 0-1 record last year.
What would you say you are most known for within Scoil? i.e. what do people associate you with?
I’d imagine it’s for being a dual player. Being the 1st team goalkeeper in football probably stands out to a lot of people.
What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement? Without doubt winning 5 promotions over the last 6/7 years across football and hurling. There is no better feeling than winning with a group of lads who commit so much to a common goal.
What is your profession / field of study / passion? Data Analyst with the HSE (Don’t mention the waiting lists!)
What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA? I’m sport mad and that would be certainly reflected in my free time be it playing or watching on tv. I try to golf every so often and am a member of St Annes golf club. I’ve been known to back the odd nag from time to time and enjoy a good day at the races.
If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be? Nothing original but a floodlit pitch and all-weather training area.
What is your favourite Scoil ‘quirk’? Our unique jersey. We will never need an alternate kit
If you close your eyes and envisage Scoil in 10 years, what do you see?
Senior football and hurling with a thriving juvenile and ladies section
Finally, if you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be and why? Giraffe…..lanky with not much grace

Blitz v Clontarf/Clann Mhuire, 5/11/2017
How it all played out We had a great turn out of 20 players for our end of season blitz versus Clontarf and Clann Mhuire. We started well enough and all matches were very competitive but we seemed to get better with every match and by the last round of matches we had two teams of equal ability clocking up big scores with the opposition hanging on for the final whistle. The County board provided fantastic medals and all organised exceptionally well by our own Jonathan Rock. We were delighted to have of our adult stars Grainne and Aoife on hand to do the presentation to all participating teams.
Who were the star performers / scorers Great to see such a range of scorers on the day including new player Andrea who fitted right and Martha who returned from a long absence also rattling the net.
What’s up next
Keep up the momentum with training over the winter. The 2018 season can’t come soon enough
