How long have you been involved in Scoil Uí Chonaill?
Since late 2009, when Patrick (our eldest son) was 4 at the time and heading into the Nursery.

Do you have any nicknames? How do you like to be addressed?
None that I am aware of anyhow! Brian works for me.

Where do you hail from?
Rural farming upbringing near Tullamore in county Offaly – a very proud Offalyman (even though the glory days of the 70’s, 80’s and ‘90’s are firmly behind us – at least for now!). Shane Lowry in the process of putting us back on the sporting map.

How did you come to be involved in Scoil?
When we were living in Killester, we were keen to get our 4 year old son at the time involved in the local GAA club. Our neighbours were wise to point us in the direction of Scoil (thanks Phil and Kate!) and we have never looked back since.

Briefly describe your Scoil career as a player / mentor / contributor, if any.
Got involved with helping in the nursery back in 2009 and this has brought me along through the years to mentoring with the U12 Boys team currently. Has been thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding to see all those lads develop into who and what they are today.

What would you say you are most known for within Scoil? i.e. what do people associate you with?
Patrick (U12), Ella (U10), Aoibhinn (U8), Rory’s (Nursery) dad and Jackie’s (Mothers and Others) hubby I guess. They are the ones who put in the hard graft out on the pitch.

What has been your greatest Scoil moment / achievement?
The first time all our kids won their first “Player of the Week” award in Nursery. Gave them individually the confidence to drive on! That recognition at that age not to be underestimated.

What is your profession / field of study / passion?
Work in enterprise software for SAP. Sport, health and fitness also a huge passion.

What are your favourite hobbies outside of GAA?
Bit of a sports nut really! Play tennis, football, golf, as well as running, walking and hiking.
Love to watch almost any sport whether on TV or in person but mainly GAA, soccer, rugby, golf.
Spending time with family and going for a few relaxing pints with friends.
Also, love to tuck into a good drama series on Sky Atlantic – recent favourites Billions and Fortitude.

If you could make one addition to Scoil in any way (don’t be restricted by the plausible!), what would it be?
A floodlit astro pitch for the kids especially for winter training sessions.

What is your favourite Scoil ‘quirk’?
Scoil remains as close as you will get to a close knit GAA club down the country. This is what truly makes us special. Everyone knows everyone (almost!)

If you close your eyes and envisage Scoil in 10 years, what do you see?
A club that has grown its facilities, size and numbers whilst maintaining that close-knit community feeling. Also, a safe-haven for teenagers to hang out and network as they grow older.

Finally, if you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be and why?
Tough one to answer. I put this out to my kids – the suggestions were not so kind! So I will go with The Silver Fox for obvious reasons.

Adult Football

It was always a tough ask to see out an entire league without a loss. Unfortunately it was two losses in a week as the pressures of a long season, and many dual players, told. But with the Hurlers playing one less game this week, and some time to rejuvenate the AFL2 are set to get back to business next week.

Well done to the AFL7 lads beat St Kevins Killians convincingly last night.

Minor Boys

Faughs 0-14 Scoil 0–13

The Minors had an MHL2 home game against Faughs on Thursday 13th July in Scoil. It was a beautiful Summer evening and the pitch was freshly cut. Many thanks to the great turnout of supporters – particularly all the Adult Hurlers.

It was a very close affair but Scoil went into the half time break 4 points up with the score at 0-8 to 0-4. Faughs came out strong in the second half and clawed back a few points. It was point for point then til the final whistle when Faugh’s came out one point ahead to win with a scoreline of 0-14 to 0–13.

The MHL2 game scheduled for Sunday 16th was conceded by Ballyboden.
