Adult games
A draw was the outcome of the final Adult Division 3 hurling game on Monday evening in Clondalkin. The result secures a mid table position for the team which is an excellent performance following their promotion for Division 4 at the end of 2015. Unfortunately, Barry Cushen picked up an injury during the game and we wish him well as he recovers from a broken collarbone.
The second hurling team won their league game on Sunday afternoon in Clontarf. The final score was 2-11 to 0-13 and they have two games left to play in the league.
Ladies Division 3 Championship Final:
The ladies minor team finished their championship campaign in style with a 5-15 to 3-4 win against St Monicas away in Edenmore. St Monicas started brightly. Scoil could not get out of their own half and could hardly get their hands on the ball. Within 5 to10 minutes, St Monicas were ahead by 2-1 to nil through constant pressure. Then Scoil kicked into gear and were camped in St Monicas half for 5 to 10 mins, marking tightly at the kickouts and showing excellent workrate but to no avail. The girls did not get demoralised and stuck to the task, eventually scoring 9 hard earned but unanswered points to a late point from St Monicas before half time.
Scoil had a Blitz after the break with a raft of goals and points. They turned a 1 point half time advantage into a 17 point lead in 10 minutes and it was hard to believe there was still 20 minutes on the clock. They kicked on from there to lead by over 20 points which St Monicas clawed back to a 17 point lead by the full time whistle. Everyone on the panel got to play and maintained the pressure to the final whistle. Their performance and teamwork was excellent. They showed resilience in weathering the early deficit and working their way back point by point before the break. High workrate, quick movement and support for each other paid off and the goals eventually came. For the huge band of Scoil supporters, it was a great pride to see one of our teams play with such spirit and skill.
Over 4 games in the campaign this team have outscored the opposition by 21-60 (123) to 11-12(45). Given that, we met 2 teams that dominated us in the opening 10 to 15 minutes and had the ability to beat us, but the spirit of this team overcame them.
Good luck to the U16 team next week who make up about two thirds of the minors. They will be a formidable minor team in their own right next year. Farewell to 2 great warriors Molly and Naoise who had their last minor game for Scoil.
Team: Aisling Abernathy, Anna Williams, Sophie Gibney, Sarah Keohane, Riona Phelan, Caoimhe de Butleir, Molly Power, Ciara Mc Comish, Susie O Flynn, Hannah Leahy, Caelinn Ni Bhroin, Emma Condon, Hannah Costello, Anna Power, Caoilfhinn Pollock, Katie O Rourke, Ella Mc Clsukey, Dearbhla Sheppard, Aisling Ni Horain, Martha Clarke, Lily Kavanagh (Sean Costello)
Minor Hurling C’ship Semi Final Isles of the Sea 1-13 Na Fianna 0-11
A great result for the Under 18 Boys on Sunday morning in Clontarf following a tough but well played competitive game. The conditions were challenging for hurling particularly due to the very wet ground which made lifting / striking more difficult. Nothing would deter this team however and they held the lead from the very first score through to the end of the game. There was no time to rest on the ball either as both teams fought strongly to make it to the final. It’s probably fair to say that each of the Isles players won their individual battle with plenty of encouragement from Tommy, Ciaran and Colm on the sideline. Some special individual moments too with a superb catch and clearance from Conor Farrelly to a wonderful mazy run at the defense from David Kennedy resulting in a great point, among the highlights. Plenty of heart from the defense with Dean, Cian, Conor, Sam and Colm along with Robert Kennedy and Daragh Levins converting scoring chances and the final flourish from Ted Walsh with 1-1. The supporters were surprised at the referees decision not to award a clear Isles goal awarded by both umpires which would have made it a more clear cut victory. The squad are looking forward to the final v Erins Isle and details will be circulated once available from the County Board. Scorers: Daragh Levins 0-7 (5 Frees), Ted 1-1, Robert 0-2, Eoin B. 0-2, David K. 0-1

Under 9s
SCOIL U9 entertained Ballymun Kickhams on Sat. morning. Mixed results on a very wet morning with Team Liam Ryan having a good win (Adam & Sophie the standouts) but my own crew decided they weren’t going to play this morning and just didn’t show up!! After a “gentle and caring” chat at half time, the kids put in dramatic transformation and won second half comfortably but alas just fell short of the win. Must say Superb skill point by Sadhbh this morning also.
All in all great turnout from U9’s panel despite the weather. Big thanks to Alex Culligan & Finn B who agreed to play for Ballymun who were short players. See you Wednesday! UP SCOIL! (JP)
U12 Boys Football League Play Off
The Under 12 game was called off last Saturday in St. Vincents due to an unplayable pitch. All support welcome and appreciated for the refixed game, once we have the details, as the lads aim for promotion after an excellent league campaign.
Under 13 Girls
It wasn’t their day but the girls gave it their all and came within two points of a very well drilled and obviously all under 13 girls team from Na Fianna.
Jody could have showed Stephen Cluxton a thing or two while Caoime ‘s two special goals kept us in the hunt. Lia was like a brick wall in defence and Kellyann kept bouncing up when Na Fianna pushed forward. Sadhbh P caught my eye with a very clever catch on the sideline which she cleverly passed into the space before the opposition’s net. Meibhin continues to attack more strongly each week while Reailtin continues to harry and block. Eve was strong in defence playing out to the side as Paul wanted. Sadhbh Murphy played a Captain’s role on the day. Aine used her speed and catching ability to great advantage while Meadhbh continued to work hard till the very end of the game. Siofra’s M involvement in other sports too is showing dividends as she continues to become fitter.our super sub Eimear is challenging harder at every game and Ella has made a great come back this season.
Holly, as usual, played her heart out everywhere making some superb catches. One of the best word ways to describe Siobhan is that she is always a presence and always industrious during every game and this was no exception. The ref choose Siofra M as his player of the match and certainly she is a player who shines in every game. The ref spoke glowingly of both teams after the match and he was probably the best ref we ever had and a mostly sporting encounter. All in all the girls might have been disappointed but they certainly have improved 100 per cent since the beginning of the year and we are very proud of them. Next up for 2003 girls is a final in St.Annes Park on Wednesday at 7.30 with Tony’s team and an under 12 only blitz on Saturday in Scoil meeting at 12.30 for 1pm kickoff
