Clubhouse ‘relaunch’/ Strictly Launch night
Oooooh what a night! The newly renovated Clubhouse re-opened on Saturday evening and there was a fantastic reaction from the members to the improvements.  Special mention for the Clubhouse team and their helpers for all their work in achieving a great result. A big thank you also goes to Sean O’Connell who organised the cleaning of the Carpets / Tiles / Windows and to Brendan McCormack who looked after the electrics.
You can see some pictures of the newly refurbished Clubhouse here.

Special Request – as with any ‘makeover’ we are asking for your support to ensure we maintain the Clubhouse to the highest standard possible. As a result, we ask  that football boots are removed and left outside the Clubhouse, popped into gear bags and / or left back in cars. This will be a big help to the Clubhouse team and we hope it means less lost property for members.  Go raibh maith agat.

Strictly Come Dancing!!!
Scoil Uí Chonaill was the place to be on Saturday evening as we we held the ‘Strictly Scoil Dancing’ launch night.  The Clubhouse was packed for the event and the dancers received a warm welcome from the big crowd. The bar staff were at the centre of the special night and a big thank you to Alva, Kate and Paraic for all their great, and late, work.  Again, fantastic work so far from the ‘Strictly’ team for all their wonderful organization. Special mention for MC Ciaran Bauer and the dancers who will be taking part in the big event on the 17 June in the RDS.  You can see some photos from the event on Saturday in the Clubhouse here.

We are also delighted to acknowledge our sponsors for the ‘Strictly’ event.  Vayu Energy are a great supporter of the Club and are our partner for the ‘Strictly Scoil Dancing’ event.   They are joined by Dannan, our key sponsor and thanks to Dave for his fantastic support.  More details here.

The next event in the ‘Strictly’ calendar is the announcement of ‘Partners & Dances’ on Saturday 14 May in the Clubhouse.  This will be the night to meet all our dancers and find out who has been ‘matched’ up with who! The Dancers start their training next Tuesday so we wish them the best of luck and thank them for their enthusiasm!

Already, over 30 club members are involved in organizing the ‘Strictly’ event and all the extras involved.  We have a few more tasks that need some volunteers so we’re asking for some more help and hoping that a few people would step up and add their support for the event. So if you can help out over the next 6/7 weeks please let us know by replying to this mail or contacting Alan, Declan, Ronan Murphy, Joan Cushen or John Coady.

For more information on any aspect of the event on Saturday 14 May or the main event on 17 June please contact Alan Cronin  085-7182745  alan.cronin@accenture.com  Declan O’Sullivan on 086-3820125.   You will also be able to keep up with the ‘Strictly’ news on social media and on our website www.scoilgaa.com.  Let the dancing begin!!!

Adult games
A good weekend of championship results for our adult hurling teams as the first round games got underway.  St Peregrines were the visitors for the Intermediate Championship game on Saturday evening in Clontarf and the game finished in a draw at 0-13 apiece.

On Sunday, the 2nd team had a comprehensive win over local rivals Raheny with some excellent performances all over the pitch.

Another excellent win for the Ladies, this time away to Fingallians this evening in the league.  The next game is also an away league fixture – Na Fianna next week.  don’t forget to support the Table Quiz on Friday 6th May if you can.

A big week of football championship games is underway and the 2nd Mens team had a narrow win in their game on Tuesday evening v Thomas Davis.  Good to see lots of chances created by the lads but a high level of wides had this game close right up to the final whistle.

Tomorrow evening, (Thursday) the third team play Naomh Barrog in their championship fixture.  Then on Saturday, it’s the Intermediate Championship game v Fingallians which is fixed for Balgriffin at 6pm.   Support for these games would be greatly appreciated.

Juveniles

Nursery
As always, our Club Nursery was in full swing on Saturday morning with plenty of games and drills to work through for the youngest players.  The Nursery takes place in the Club every Saturday from 10am and new members are always welcome.

Under 9s  – update from JP
Nice change to our mid week training schedule with a couple of friendly Football matches away to Trinity Gaels GAA on Tuesday evening for our Scoil’s U9’s (Thanks Liam Ryan for organising).  Both teams put in some brilliant performances tonight but Scoil came away worthy winners in both games. Great bunch of kids – everyone of them!  Next U9’s F/Ball games at home to Na Fianna @10am this Saturday.

Dublin
Nice to have some silverware in 2016 as the Dublin footballers achieved a four in a row of league titles on Sunday.  Unfortunately the Ladies lost out to Cork in their game

LAOCHRA – The GAA Commemorates 1916 – Croke Park, Sunday 24 April
A big thank you to Club members Aideen Lawlor and Ronan Murphy who represented the club in Croke Park today, Sunday 24 April. (All participants in the Laochra Commemoration had to be in Croke Park at 8.30am). Ìt was great to see the Scoil jersey and flag on the pitch during the event. Thanks to Ronan, Gary Rolls and Shane Ó’Foghlú for the photos from around Croke Park which you can see here.
