Support Welcome for all games
Just to acknowledge again that our Club hosted a wonderfully entertaining and completely professional event which entertained over 800 people in the RDS on Friday night – Wow!!!!!
Strictly Come Dancing!
We had a fantastic night in the RDS Concert Hall for our #StrictlyScoil event last Friday. Many of the audience took the buses provided to the RDS so the atmosphere was building from early on! The first item on the programme was to welcome everyone to the event and in his few words, our Chairman, Declan Hoban, took the opportunity to send out a special message to Peter Morley who is currently in hospital and unable to attend. The atmosphere in the Concert Hall was amazing and from the opening group dance to the performance of the winning couple there was a brilliant ‘buzz’ in the hall. The dancers were lifted by the roars that greeted each performance and were thrilled with the response from the audience. The videos introducing each couple kept everyone entertained and the show ran smoothly from start to finish making it a wonderful professional event.
Congratulations to all our dancers for a wonderful show, our judges for their feedback, our MC Adrian Kennedy for his welcome and our audience for their brilliant support. Each couple played their part and we had some great scores awarded by the judges. The crowd well also thrilled to see the variety of dances from the formal to the fun with the couples beautifully made up and dressed to impress. You can see a clip of the winning dance and some event photos here.
We had great support too from our sponsors from start to finish and the audience received a souvenir brochure with 100 pages including lots of information on our dancing couples. A great success in terms of social and financial outcomes for the Club! We will have more on our blog soon and we also have updated Facebook with lots of photos and videos. Our next event will be a ‘replay’ night where the DVD will be shown in the Clubhouse for members and friends to see again or indeed for the first time. Watch out for details of ‘Strictly Scoil Dancing – DVD night’!
On the night, the Clubhouse was open from 5.30pm and the Marquee and extra facilities put in place were a great success ensuring plenty of room for all our guests. The return bus trip to Clontarf after the event brought many supporters into the Clubhouse and they enjoyed a great night with plenty of conversation, craic and singing into the early hours.
Agreed by many attendees to be one of the best nights ever in the history of the Club, it was great to see so many new and familiar faces in the audience. The formal ‘thank you’s’ were delivered by the Project Manager for the event, dual player Alan Cronin. Special mention here for all the event team who are Club members, some involved for a long time and others new to the administration side. We are so lucky to have many great and talented people who volunteered their time in support of the event. Every fundraiser organised by teams and sponsorship collected helped to support the event and the dancers. Funds are still being received but once we have a final figure we will share it with members. Finally, to thank once again our brilliant dancers who put in some much time and effort over the past eight weeks to make the night such a success. Well done to all involved!
Winning performances included:
Winners – Joanne Courtney & Conor Coady!
Second – Tara Grace & Paul Maher
Third – Ciara Black & Eoghan O’Connell
Best video – Hannah Ennis & Paraic Naughton who recreated ‘Flashdance’
Adult games
The Ladies played Raheny in St Annes on Tuesday evening in the Cup and secured a great win following a fantastic team performance. A superb individual goal from Molly Power in the final minutes ensured the win by the narrowest margin. Gus Rock was very proud of all the players for their never say die spirit on the night. Next up is a game v Templeogue.
Another great win for the Seniors on Wednesday evening as they welcomed St Mary’s, Saggart to Clontarf. This was another high scoring performance with lots of chances created and more importantly converted. The win makes it four games in a row in the league and sees the team currently in fourth place with nine games played. Next up is a league game v Erin’s Isle in Finglas on Saturday.
The minors were back in hurling action this evening after the exam break and played a close game v Ballyboden St Endas losing out by 1-12 to 2-11.
Support for all games is greatly appreciated by the players and management.

Under 10 Girls Leinster Blitz
On a wet and dreary day the Scoil girls lit up the mood with some fantastic football in Bray Emmetts. We played five games against Foxrock Cabinteely, Baltinglass, Kilkenny gaa, Maynooth and Skyrne and ended up winning four games out of five and disappointed not to win all five.
The girls all showed skill, passion and a will to win their own ball that it was a pleasure to watch. Some of our scores were of the highest quality with 3 or 4 passes involved that brought other teams managers praise after the games for the natural way they applied the correct skills so often at the right times. Our defence and goalkeeping matched those attacking skills and reduced all teams to a maximum of 3 scores in any game and never gave anything away easy.
Thanks to all parents that came supporting the girls today which was great for them to have and hear and finally a get well soon to Caoilinn and Abbie. Onwards to Fingal Ravens this Sunday. Scoil Abú (Aidan M.)

Finally, apologies for the late delivery of the weekly update. This was due to a combination of the ‘Strictly Scoil’ event and a little trip to Lille on Wednesday.
