Strictly Come Dancing!!!

You can read the latest installment in our brilliant ‘Strictly’ blog here!

Another great night in the Club on Saturday last and more compliments for the renovations team. The clubhouse was packed for this event and we had arranged some extra bar facilities and a stage to make everyone more comfortable which worked very well. There was also a very tasty selection of food cooked on the BBQ which added to the evening. A special mention for all the team who were working hard on the night getting the Clubhouse ready, organising the bar and working at the event.

Thanks to our MC Adrian Kennedy from 98 FM who looked after the introductions of the Couples and Dances and especially to our Dancers who now know the ‘challenge’ ahead. They were back to the school hall on Tuesday evening to start working on the steps for their individual dance – hearing great reports about some of our movers and shakers! We have photos of the Couples for you to see here.

We wish the Dancers all the best as they attend the official and extra rehearsals over the next few weeks and looking forward to the show in the RDS on 17 June already!

Team Support for our dancers

Each of our couples has been match with a team to give them extra support over the next few weeks.  Mentors and coaches will be in touch to let you know how you can find out more about your special couple.

Adult games

A comprehensive win in the Intermediate Championship on Saturday evening as the opposition were unable to compete with the stronger Scoil side.  The next round will now be played in September.

The 3rd team lost out in their game in the Junior championship against a much stronger Skerries team on Sunday afternoon.  The second team will play Bank of Ireland in their championship fixture in early July.

Adult hurling league fixtures this week started with a loss as despite fantastic effort we lost out in a well contested game in Clontarf v St Peregrines this evening.  It was a very disappointing result particularly as the lads had come back from an eight point deficit at half time and went ahead with a few minutes to go.  However, the decisions seemed to go the oppositions way with several frees in the closing minutes to see a loss by three points.  Next up is an away game v Commercials in Rathcoole on Sunday at 10.30am

The Ladies also played this evening with their game v Raheny in St Annes in the football championship.  The score line flattered the opposition as the girls had many chances which somehow did not convert into scores.

Support for these games would be greatly appreciated.

Minor Hurling

The minors had a trip to Tallaght last Sunday morning (well done to the Scoil parents who had been in the Clubhouse on Saturday evening) for their league game v Thomas Davis.  Both sides exchanged excellent scores in the opening stages but the opposition moved into a lead with a well taken goal.  Some excellent work by Fitzy, Sam and Cian in the backs was matched by well taken scores from Robert and Daragh and when Aaron pounced on the ball to slot home a goal the supporters were rewarded for their support.  Davis’s worked hard to go two points ahead again but the lads never gave up and drew level with the last play of the game which was just reward for their commitment and determination throughout the game.  The exam break starts this week so it will be a few weeks before games recommence in the leagues.

Juveniles

Nursery – message from Joanne, Club GPO

On May 28th the club is organising a blitz for kids aged 4-7 years old (born during or after 2009) from 10 am – 12 pm.  It will be a fun event where kids will play mini football matches against children their own age, from their own and other local schools.

We pride ourselves on our open and welcoming atmosphere at Scoil Uí Chonaill and we would love to see you and your kids there. We will also be hosting a coffee morning so parents will get chance to talk to other parents and coaches.  Entry to the blitz is FREE – just text Joanne 087 9146748 with the name and date of birth of your child.  Hope to see ye all there. Thanks.

Under 9s

Absolutely cracking day out in Binn Eadar GAA Howth this morning. Fantastic performances by both Scoil U9 Teams with two excellent away wins. Thanks Elaine Ni Dhúbhaín & Liam Ryan for photos.. My God very hard to get them all in the pics at same time.

I don’t want to single anyone out today for Team Jp as they All played fantastic but I have to say Eabha & Raphael were outstanding (that was from their team mates)!

By all accounts Team Liam had scorers all over the field with Adam, Sophie & Birthday Boy Nathan playing a blinder. Well done Kids. (JP)
