A good start to the adult football league campaigns for all three teams

Adult games
Delighted to report full points from the three round one fixtures in the Adult mens leagues today.
First up on Sunday morning, the Senior team beat Whitehall Colmcille in the Division 2 league by 5 points.  Eoghan O’Connell was the stand out player in this performance which included a penalty converted by Eoin O’Carroll.  Next up is a home game v Skerries Harps.

Then the newly promoted 2nd team beat Ballymun Kickhams in the Division 7 league game by 4-12 to 2-9.  The lads went ahead in the first half but were caught by Ballymun in the second but had a strong finish to add some important scores to achieve the 9 point winning margin.

The third team completed the day with a walkover in their game as Man O’War were unable to field. They lads had an 8-a-side game instead which gave young and not so young a good run around!

Next football league games are set for 13th March. Anyone who is thinking about getting back to GAA is very welcome – we have a team for everyone!

Juveniles

Under 9s  Scoil Uí Chonaill v Man O’War

Scoil Ui Chonaill U9 Footballers welcomed Man O War GAA on Saturday morning & didn’t disappoint with both Scoil teams proving too strong for the opposition. Team Jp were on fire with some fine individual & team scores today. Excellent link up play/scores from Caterina & Sophie with Aoileen marshaling the defence (clean sheet). This trio continue to set a very high standard for the rest of their teammates.

Team Liam Ryan were also on their game with some brilliant passing moves leading to well taken scores.  Some of our U9’s provided their services immediately after to the U10’s and proved pivotal in their success also – Well done Adam, Alan & Fionn

Under 11 Girls
A great win to start the new year against a bigger Craobh Chiaran side in Maypark last Sunday. All the night’s out training in the club over the winter stood to them as the tackling, passing and shooting skills they worked on came to the fore. Game ended 4 – 5 to 1 point and thanks go to Grainne and Mark for working so hard with the team to get them to here.  (Aidan)

Under 13 Girls
The first match of the season saw a healthy Scoil contingent turn up to face Beann Éadair on a positively arctic Saturday afternoon in Howth.  A thrilling fixture ensued, with both sides tacking on goals and points.  However, a combination of tenacious tackling from Beann Éadair and some early-season rustiness on the part of Scoil led to a 3-point victory for the home team.  A number of mentions; Abby excelled in goal, Eve & Izzy worked well in defence, Lia made some crucial bursts in the second half, Siofra Malone’s work rate was outstanding and Caoimhe took some great scores. Remember that the girls are now playing on a full-size pitch which means every match is a bigger challenge in terms of stamina.  Next match is on March 12th at home to Fingallians.  Final score: Beann Éadair 5-07, Scoil 5-04   (Larry)

Nursery
Our Nursery was certainly busy last Saturday morning with games and skill development from 10am.  Don’t forget the Clubhouse is open and a warm welcome awaits with tea and coffee available upstairs while you can still keep any eye on the action on the pitch.  All welcome!
