A big thank you to some new contributors this week – feedback and news is much appreciated

Adult games

A good win in the Loving cup football game which took place on Monday evening in Alfie Byrne Road.  A sparkling performance from Conor Dixon who contributed 1-3 with Shane Corry and Kevin Cagney also showing strongly.  Football league fixtures for the 2016 season are set to commence on 28th February.  Support is very welcome for all games!

Juveniles

Some games were impacted by the weather last Saturday while others had some great performances from Scoil teams in their fixtures.  Special mention for the Under 8s who played their first competitive hurling game.  Team of the week are the Under 15s who secured a win in their game in some really challenging weather conditions on Sunday morning.

Andy Bunion and Declan Devane from our Senior team were out to coach our under 11 and under 12 boys on Tuesday night to kick start our Adult player coaching programme which will run until June with over thirty players volunteering to assist our coaches at training. Well done to all involved!

Under 8s:

We had a big turnout for our first hurling match and our first away match despite weather conditions and mid-term break. All games were very competitive and Coaches were delighted with the work rate of all players. Our striking is a little rusty but we’ll be doing serious work on this in the coming weeks. Well done to our new players Paddy and Patrick who got stuck in from the start. Score of the day was a lovely first time strike by Ruairi. (Sean L)

Under 9s O’Dwyers v Scoil Uí Chonaill

A trip to Ballbriggan for the first hurling game of the season for our Under 9s.  Great performances all round on the All Weather pitch with the coaches happy with the team effort.

Under 11 Girls Blitz

Great initiative by the management team, led by Aidan Mulligan, to host a Blitz in the Club on Sunday.  Teams from Dublin and Meath took part as preparation for the new season and the Girls enjoyed the mini games and the hospitality.  Well done all.

Under 15 football  Ballyboden St Endas 2-7 Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-11

Definitely a ‘game of two halves’ as the Under 15s played in very challenging conditions against Ballyboden last Sunday.  The opposition used the wind to their advantage and were well placed at half time.  However, the Scoil lads lifted their game and with the wind behind them added some excellent scores to secure the win by a comfortable margin at the final whistle.  Next up is St Marks at home in the league.

Nursery

Our Nursery is a busy spot every Saturday morning with games and skill development from 10am  – all are welcome.  Don’t forget the Clubhouse is open and a warm welcome awaits with tea and coffee available upstairs while you can still keep any eye on the action on the pitch.

Visit of Sam Maguire / All Ireland Ladies Club Trophy

We’re hosting a visiting of the trophies on Saturday 12 March between 4 and 6pm.  Everyone is welcome to drop in and have some photos taken with the trophies.  The festivities will continue with a ‘Fun Night’ from 6pm.  All are welcome!

Easter Camps

We’re hosting two camps during the long Easter break starting with a multi sport Fun Camp from 21st to 24th March.  The camp will run from 9am to 3pm over the four days for children aged 4-12 years.  Activities will including football, hurling, rounders, athletics, fun games, arts & crafts, movies, disco and more – something for everyone!  Cost is €50 – 1st child / €90 – 2nd child.

During Easter week we’re hosting a 3 Day Hurling Camp from 10am-2pm for 6-12 year olds (€30) and 10am-12.30 for 4-6 year olds (€20).
