Conor Dixon
Senior Club Player, helping out at the Advanced Teen Camp at Scoil
MEET THE MEMBERS…..
Scoil Uí Chonaill’s Senior Player…
Name: Conor Dixon
Background: Scoil Senior player, played Soccer for Stella Maris Football Club, won the Leinster Senior League treble in 2015. Conor had trials for the Dublin under 21’s for 2 years in a row and he played for Dublin in the blue stars game in 2018. Busy as a Trainee Solicitor at KPMG Legal Services and supporting the Advanced Teen Week last week.
Occupation: Trainee Solicitor at KPMG Legal Services
Player Profile: Senior Footballer
Position: Anywhere across the half or full-forward line
Hobbies/Interests: Love the aul foreign sport that is soccer. Massive UFC fan and I watch the occasional basketball game.
Favourite Sportsperson: Michael Jordan (everything was about the W)
Favourite Scoil moment: As a collective, it would be the Division 3 promotion play-off win over Na Fianna in 2014 (even though I didn’t kick a ball). Individually, it would be my first senior goal rebounded from a missed penalty. Shoutout to Lewis Cassidy for the assist!
Why Scoil Ui Chonaill? I was poached from my former club St. Joseph’s O’Connell Boys at the tender age of 11 by my cousin Wayne ‘Busha’ Bushell and I haven’t looked back since!
Advice to the club’s younger players: This is my chance to say work hard and never give up or practice makes perfect. Although these are words strongly embedded in the club’s heritage, my advice would be to just enjoy yourself!
Thanks, Conor for your excellent contribution to our club and great advice to our younger players.

Scoil v Naomh Mearnog 12-7-2021
Minor Girls Team
You can’t win ‘em all but our Minor girls had a very good try. That is when they took on Naomh Mearnog on the 12th in the league. Unlike the downpour that we had in our previous match in Donabate the evening was bright and sunny and ideal for the spectators. The water breaks though were absolutely necessary for the players.
Mearnog started with three sharp points before Caoimhe and Reailtin Canden got our first two points on the board. A great try for a goal by Caoimhe raised our spirits but it was ably defended by Mearnog who in turn had two wides. Three more points by Caoimhe the second one which was passed beautifully to her by Abby was then followed by two cracking goal ONE OF WHICH WAS PASSED TO Caoimhe by Sadhbh. Sadhbh then got her name on the score sheet with a brilliant point having thundered down the pitch in her usual fashion. Half time had us ahead of the score 2.5 to Mearnog’s 8 points.
We were happy when Mearnog started the second half with a wide and we were delighted to have as a reply two more points on the scoreboard Then disaster struck with a goal from Mearnog but which left us only two points ahead. It was nerve-biting stuff as the game progressed they went on a scoring spree and somehow we were unable to keep them out. Their second goal put the nail in our coffin. That is not to say that our backs did not try their hardest but Mearnog seemed to get a second wind while our girls missed some scores and seemed to tire in the last ten minutes of what was an excellent game of football. There is no doubt but that combining the under 16 girls with our own team is working very well as they bring their own special attributes to the game. It’s great too to see our own girls back after Covid and hopefully they will go from strength to strength in the upcoming championship. We hope by then our injured players Aine and Liadan will be raring to go again. The coaches are very pleased with the efforts of our girls and no doubt will have taken note of any improvements we need to make. One improvement they don’t need to make though is that of heart and commitment to Scoil.
Final score Scoil 2.9 to Naomh Mearnog 2.13
Thank you Niamh Crowe for your contribution #UPSCOIL
