Great support in Parnell Park on Saturday evening as the Scoil Hurlers took on Cuala in the Junior A Championship Final. Unfortunately, we lost out to a very strong Cuala team in the final but the team have qualified for next year’s Intermediate Championship and the Leinster Club Championship. While the first half of the game was fairly even with Cuala just pushing ahead coming up to half time, it was the second half display that ensured the win. There was a good write up on the game in the Herald on Tuesday along with some pictures. It’s back to league action on Sat 26th with a home game v Faughs at 5.30pm.

Under 8s
JP – Scoil UiChonaill “Tough as Teak” U8’s hosted Craomh Ciarans & Raheny GAA for Saturday morning’s Hurling Blitz. 6 matches played – 2 Wins / 2 Draws / 2 Losses. Some lovely hurling on show with some brilliant points scored and hooks to be seen.
I was particularly delighted to see so many of our U8’s and the opposition, supporting the Scoil Bake Sale in aid of Leah Carmody after the games. UP SCOIL!!
Under 10 Girls
Aidan ‘After three months of training and holidays the Scoil UiChonaill under ten girls finally ended their long wait for a game tonight. After starting really slow and making basic mistakes due to rustiness in first qtr we burst into action and showed some great teamwork and determination to draw level by half time.
The second half was a pleasure to watch for all where the girls 3 sessions a week really paid off and their skills and hardwork came to the fore with the N. Barrog sideline even applauding our girls for some scores and fielding.
I was so proud of everyone tonight and to know that we have more girls that were not available tonight fills me with optimism for the years ahead. Up Scoil
Under 12 Girls
10/9/2015: Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-07 v 5-12 Kilmacud Crokes
Scoil U12 girls started strong in the first half and led early in the game. This was followed by a long spell during which Kilmacud were in the ascendancy, but never went out of sight. Scoil had a really strong spell in the middle of second half and got the deficit down to a mere two points with a few minutes to go. However, 2-03 scored in quick succession by Kilmacud at the death spelled defeat and meant a flattering final scoreline for Kilmacud. It was our first game back after the summer break, but all 16 of our girls played their hearts out and showed great promise all over the park. Réailtín Leahy and Sara Codrea were particulary dogged in defence in the first half.
13/9/2015: Beann Éadair 3-07 v 3-07 Scoil Uí Chonaill
This thrilling encounter saw Scoil recover from a 3 goal deficit in the second half to level the match, despite some highly questionable decisions from the kind of referee who would have left Joe Brolly struggling for words. Siobhán Mullen’s effort near the end that appeared to cross the goal line would have won it, but unfortunately it wasn’t given. Regardless, the girls are showing real promise. Síofra Malone, Sadhbh Murphy, Holly O’Rourke-Keane and Caoimhe Keohane deserve special mention for their work around the middle of the park, as well as their defending and attacking when necessary. Siobhán Mullen was deadly in front of goal when we needed it, escaping the attentions of her marker over and over again. Some of the younger girls showed real confidence throughout the game, most notably Abby Redmond and Meadhbh Kavanagh. Abby even took Méibhín Ní Raghallaigh’s place in goal when Méibhín got injured. Méibhín was great in goal up to then, and Isabel Dillon Moloney, who usually plays in goal, was excellent in defence. Congrats to all 18 girls – you travelled to Howth to play. Larry M.
Under 14 Boys Scoil 5-7 Whitehall Colmcille 2-6
Last Saturday the U14 team were in action against Whitehall Colmcille on pitch 22 in St Annes, a difficult fixture for the team as many of the regulars were away on a school trip to Old Trafford. It was all hands to the wheel when the game started following an early injury to Jack Kelly. Scoil struggled on and dominated the first half finally putting in a convincing win with a final score of 5-7 to 2-6, a great result and a great performance by all. This result leaves the team 3rd in the league with one game over Erin Go Bragh and 1 point behind Peregrines with 2 games to go. Two wins from two games and we will top the league. Thanks to the lads for turning out in such numbers on Tuesday and showing such enthusiasm. Welcome to Brandon who has just joined the team recently. Everyone is looking forward to an early ‘Pre All Ireland’ training session on Sunday morning at 10AM.
Under 16 Football league St Patrick’s Donabate 0-8 Scoil/Fontenoy 5-8
A solid performance from the Under 16s on Saturday last, despite missing several players due to injury, in their game played in good conditions in Donabate. Both teams were guilty of some sloppy passing particularly in the first half but our players showed more determination and as the game proceeded the quality of the performance improved. Big contributions from Nathan at full back and Jordan in the forward line ensured the win.
Next game for the Under 16s is the semi final of the B Hurling Championship v Raheny next Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm in St Annes, No. 10. The team would really appreciate the support of any members, friends and supporters who might like to combine a walk in the park with a game of hurling!
