Adult games

There were no adult football games last weekend due to a number of factors;

  • Intermediate championship was deferred due to Dublin v Mayo replay
  • AFL8 game was off on Sunday due to a championship fixture for the opposition and
  • AFL11 team received a walkover in their game.

Next weekend is all about hurling and we’re delighted that the Junior A Final v Cuala is taking place in Parnell Park.  Most of the team have played with Scoil from a young age and have worked hard to achieve the breakthrough to Intermediate Championship.  The final is at 5.30pm on Saturday and the team & management would really appreciate your support in Parnell Park as they strive to pick up some silverware for the Club.  Hope you can make it!

The Intermediate football championship is now scheduled for Sat 19th Sept.  This is another important game which is set for the eve of the All Ireland football Final making it a busy weekend for all GAA fans!

The next game for the AFL8 team who are currently sitting at the top of the division is scheduled for 4th Oct away to Kilmacud Crokes.  The AFL11 team are due to play Pavee on Sunday 20th September.

Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter for updates on fixtures.

Juveniles

Nursery / Naoinra

The Nursery / Naoinra takes place every Saturday from 10am and is focused on fun and skills.  Joanne and the coaches were busy on Saturday as they worked with the younger members.  New players are always welcome so spread the word!

Under 8s

(JP) Scoil UiChonaill ‘Tough As Teak’ U8 Footballers were away to Round Towers Lusk GAA this morning. First football game rustiness post summer break was evident but kids still managed clean sweep which was very pleasing!

Some of Team Jp/Liam’s players didn’t enjoy being played out of their position/comfort zone today but tough half time team talk, soon refocused their minds and they upped their levels again!

Great to see some new faces taking to the field with young Sadhbh giving it 100%. Hopefully all the kids will plague their parents to get out practising before the dark nights descend. Special mention to Charlie who pulled off some brilliant saves today.

As usual Training Tuesday & Wednesday 7-8pm (Hurling Training this week with home Hurling Blitz Saturday 12th Sep – 10am (Scoil/Raheny/Craomh Ciaran)

Additional reporting from Ronan: Team 2 played some great football with excellent teamwork, top class tackling and some high quality blocking a feature throughout. Some great scores by Katarina, Raphael, Diarmuid, Eabha, Tadgh, Alan & Fionn.

Scoil Juvenile Training

Training continues every week for Under 8s to Under 12s on Tuesday & Wednesday 7-8pm.

Under 14 Girls Championship Scoil Uí Chonaill 6-15 v Cuala B 1-9

A one-sided game in St Annes last Friday evening as the Under 14 girls played some excellent football to secure their second win in the championship.  A great all round team performance.

Under 16 Hurling Championship Scoil/Fontenoy 4-11 Castleknock A 0-11

A very open and competitive game of hurling last Saturday in the Quarter Final of the Under 16 B Championship.  The first half was a strongly contested affair with both teams creating chances while the defences were on top containing the attacks including some excellent saves during the first 20 minutes.  Then came the breakthrough from our forward line with 3 goals from Daragh Levins, Conor Barnes and Eoghan McKay.  This five minute spell towards the end of the first half was the basis of the win and the opposition never recovered.  Some excellent performances from Odhran O’Sullivan and Eoghan McKay at midfield, the tenacious Sam Callan along with Eoin Barron in defense while Darragh added 9 points including some excellent frees.  A superb individual fourth goal was added by David Kennedy to ensure the supporters left for the Dublin game in great spirits.  The semi final is set for Saturday 19th September v Raheny with details to be confirmed.

Club Lotto

The Club Lotto was back this week and the numbers drawn were 2 8 14 16.  There was no winner of the jackpot.  Congratulations to Martha Hunt who had 3 numbers and wins €50.  The jackpot is now €900 for the next draw.

Dublin Ladies

Great result for the Dublin Ladies on Saturday v Armagh and they now play Cork in the All Ireland Final on Sunday 27th September.

Dublin v Mayo replay

A great football game in Croke Park last Saturday evening – hope everyone enjoyed it! It was also good to see two Scoil representatives on the field – Under 8s Fionn Daly was one of the flag carriers (Dublin of course) who welcomed the teams on to the field while Under 12s Caoimhe Keohane was the referee for the Mini Game at half time.  Comhghairdeas to both Club members!

The Club was open after the game on Saturday evening and thanks to Kieran and Neil for looking after everyone in the Clubhouse and to Ronan and Andrea on the BBQ.  Plenty of ‘Apres Match’ analysis as always, especially after the win!
