Great buzz in the Club tonight as Michael Daragh Macauley put a Dublin spin on training for our juveniles.   MDMA enjoyed his ‘work experience’ in our Schools over the last few weeks – thanks to Joanne for organising a pretty competent ‘Sub’.

Adult games

Two excellent results in the football championship at the weekend.

On Friday night, the intermediate Championship game took place in O’Toole Park against Cuala.  The Scoil forwards were ready from the throw in and Conor Dixon was very unlucky not to score a goal with his first attack but somehow a Cuala defender managed to clear the ball off the line.  Great to see the headline of the result in last night’s Evening Herald – ‘Super Scoil shine in win over Cuala’.  According to the Herald With three divisions separating the teams, a one-sided affair was perhaps expected but Cuala battled gamely throughout only to succumb to Scoil’s greater cohesion in the closing stages. The contest was delicately poised entering the final ten minutes but the Dublin Adult Football League Division 2 side finished strongly to secure the eleven point victory.  The attacking contribution of Neil O’Flynn was crucial for Scoil with the former Dublin minor chipping in with four points while both Conor Dixon and Eoghan O’Connell netted pivotal goals for the winners.  Others to make valuable offerings over the hour were Alan Cronin, Conor O’Donovan and Conor Coady with Eoin O’Carroll and Donncha Fenton sharing five points for Scoil Uí Chonaill.’

The Scoil supporters on the sideline (in the freezing cold) were happy that we were always in control of the game and certainly played the best football over the 60 minutes.

On Sunday, the Junior Championship game was played in Hartstown and a dominant performance by the Scoil players delivered an overwhelming win against opponents St. Peregrines.  Great team work was the order of the day with a mix of youth and experience on the field.  With Michael Mc Cluskey, Sean Mulligan and Dec Devane showing their class up front, the defenders were quick to deal with the limited attacks mounted by the opposition and moved the ball forward quickly and effectively.  While Aidan Mulligan was disappointed to concede the goal, resulting from a mis hit by the Peregrine’s forward, his kick outs provided the outfield players with great possession.  Aaron Kavanagh, Paraic Naughton and Alistair Cassidy combined well and showed their pace working the ball up the field. Some great scores kept the supporters entertained particularly the rocket shots of Sean and the fisted points from Michael.  Details of the next round opponents will be circulated as soon as they are available.

The Ladies played Cuala away this evening in the Club in a well contested game.  The final result was Cuala 4-12  Scoil 4-5.

Next weekend sees the start of a continuous round of fixtures in both hurling and football over the next few weeks.  Starting on Saturday, we welcome Naomh Fionnbarra to the Club for a 6.30pm throw in for the A hurling championship.  Then on Sunday, it’s a hurling championship fixture v O’Tooles at 3pm. There are football league games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening next week.

Support is very welcome for all games and much appreciated by the Players and management teams.

Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter for updates on fixtures.

All Welcome!!!

Under 8-11 training

Training continues every Tuesday and Wednesday 7-8pm in the Club.  Great session tonight as Dublin footballer Michael Daragh Macauley joined the coaches and worked with great enthusiasm to pass on his skills to our younger members.  It was a lovely evening in Clontarf and ideal for a training session.  Thanks also to Michael for taking time to sign jerseys and have pictures taken (after the session of course) Check out some of the pictures from tonight’s session at:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.726099697494618.1073741847.121763621261565&type=3&uploaded=14

Under 8s

Message from JP – ‘U8’s were at home on Saturday v St Pat’s Donabate. Brilliant performance/effort put in by the away team but Scoil kids proved too strong over the two games. Great to see some of our new Scoil players getting stuck in also. Hopefully Adam comes back from his warm weather training in one piece – enjoy the break Liam Ryan & co!

Under 10 Girls

Message from Aidan: ‘The Under ten girls played against Monica’s on Saturday in blustery conditions. However they were cheered on by a good Scoil support including the Courtneys of Jp Courtney and Joanne. Spurred on by this and their usual vocal mix of parents and extended family the girls stepped up again to display their increasing skill levels.

They used this game as a great confidence boosting warm up ahead of the Leinster blitz next Sat in Kildare. Most pleasing to see was the mix of scorers on the day outside of the usual suspects while keeping the opposition virtually scoreless. Great to see the habits of hand passed points and turning over opposition possession becoming the norm for the girls as they work hard on the basic skills.  Onwards and upwards. Scoil abú.’

Charity event – John Farrelly, Girls Football Mentor

I am  cycling in the Tour de Burren  on 20st June 2015 in aid of the charity HHT Ireland which my friends Dave and Dara Woods have set up after they lost their 22 year old son Paul Woods to the blood disease HHT.  You will find more information on this charity in the link below where donations can be made, I would really appreciate any donations large or small for this worthy cause.

Believe me I have cycled the little legs off myself training in preparation for this event! and am only quarter the man I used to beJ so it will be all worth while if I can make a contribution to help the fund research into little known blood disease.  Thanks a million!!!!!!

Best wishes to Nursery Coach John Kelly and his wife Roisin on the birth of their son Tiarnán.

Your support at a game this week would be appreciated!
