Notices
I am sure that most people are aware of an incident regarding abuse a referee received in the last number of days at an underage game in another county.
Due to the serious nature of this abuse, all club games were cancelled over the weekend as referees withdrew their services. Camogie and LFGA referees also withdrew their services in support.
We remind all players, mentors and supports to be respectful of referees. Abuse of any nature is not acceptable at any game.
Club Gear
The online shop reopened again this week and all gear can be ordered here
For anyone waiting on gear, this will be delivered to the club in the next week and will be available to collect from the club shop.
The club shop continues to have a stock of socks, shorts and jerseys (up to 13 years). The shop is opened every Saturday morning in the club grounds from 9.45am until 11.15pm.
Camogie News
Camogie Feile 2023
Monday 17 th April, it’s the start of camogie feile week with training on pitch 22. The panel is well established with an equal mix of girls in 2008 and 2009. Thomas Gleeson arrives to lend a hand with training .
The atmosphere is great, and the girls are looking forward to the week ahead.
Tuesday 18th, 11 of the panel represent Gaelcholaiste Reachrann in a school camogie quarter final. The match is a draw but Reachrann win in closely fought extra time. Great to see such a strong Scoil representation.
Wednesday 19th, the girls had a league game against Skerries Harps. This is a rescheduled fixture. A number of league matches have been cancelled because of the poor weather conditions and the girls have only played two competitive fixtures as a result. Coaches and players are nervous because of the lack of match practice. But nerves are soon soothed as the girls put on a fine display of camogie and are much the better side, beating Skerries by 4-4 to 3-1.
Everyone’s delighted particularly as Scoil were beaten by Skerries in last year’s league.
Friday 21st Sinead McDonnell leads the group in a fun session to ensure the girls are relaxed going into the big day on Saturday. A long puck competition has everyone in good spirits. Saturday 22 nd , the big day arrives and players, coaches and parents make the trip to O’Dwyers in Ballbriggan for the division 4 Camogie Feile. Our half of the division is made up of O’Dwyers, Trinity Gaels and Beann Eadair. Everyone is feeling confident as we have been competitive with all 3 teams in recent years. We have traded wins and losses with all these clubs over the past few years and there is a feeling that there is a chance to progress.
The first match is against the hosts O’Dwyers. A slow start sees O’Dwyers go ahead. Scoil come back strongly but the O’Dwyers’ keeper is on song and makes some fantastic saves. With half-time approaching Caragh McAuley fires the sliothar into the back of the opposition net and Scoil are back in the game. The team never look back. Aoibhinn Cunningham Brennan is in great form and threating every time she gets the ball. Overall, it’s a really strong team performance and a strong win 3-3 to 1-1 in the first game. It’s a great start.
The next game is against Trinity Gaels. Unfortunately there is only one pitch at the venue and Scoil play back to back with a 5 minute break between the teams. Again, it’s a slow start and Trinity Gaels forge ahead. To great credit the Scoil Girls show great bravery to battle back into the game. With minutes to go, Orlaith Benham calmly levels the match with a free. It’s 1-5 to 1-5 and all to play for. In a tense first Scoil have chances but fail to convert and Trinity Gaels nip it with a goal at the death. Everyone is very disappointed, a draw would have been a fair result.
The last game is against Beann Eadair. In contrast to the Trinity Gaels game the girls have a 2 and a half-hour wait for their last game. Again it’s a slow start but Scoil battle back into the match and are unfortunate not to score more. A dogged Beann Eadair hold out against the Scoil onslaught. Beann Eadair win 2-1 to 1-0.
Overall, it’s a great display of camogie by the girls. Unfortunately we didn’t get the bit of luck needed with the match scheduling. On another day the girls could have won all 3 matches. But it was a great week and the girls can be very proud of their effort and represented the club with pride.
Many thanks to the sponsors College Gate Dental and Great Tours of Ireland for their help funding the girls Feile gear.
Thanks to all the parents, family and friends for their support, encouragement and help.
Thanks also to the parents for organising a fun pizza party to finish out the Feile 2023 season for our u15girls.

Famous GAA Quote
“I see John O Donnell dispensing water on the sideline. Tipperary, sponsored by a water company. Cork, sponsored by a tae company. I wonder will they meet later for afternoon tae.”
