Comhghairdeas to our Ladies A Team
Super Saturday – 7 October got off to a great start with our Ladies A team winning the Dublin Ladies Junior A Final v Raheny GAA. This was an epic contest and it was all on the line until the final whistle blew.
Final score: Scoil 4-14 Raheny 5-09
The Dublin LGFA match report gives a real flavour of the game and is well worth a read – available here
A big thank you to everyone involved with the team including players, coaches and medics for all their work throughout the campaign. A special mention for the great support we had from all across the Club in the Naul – it was great to see the Scoil coach arrive with lots of young supporters. Captain Ciara McComish was presented with the trophy by Joe Keane, Chairperson Dublin LGFA. A proud day for the Club as we will play in the Dublin Intermediate Championship in 2024 for the first time in our history.
This team will now represent Dublin in the Leinster Championship, another first, on Sat 28 Oct in Offaly v Balllinamere Durrow.
Tickets are on sale here – Under 16s are free of charge.
Our Supporters Bus will leave the Club at 12 noon on Saturday and return after the game. Contact Sandra at 087 2227056 to book your seat. Pick up your Club flags before you go. Support Welcome!
Promotion to Senior Football Championship
Later the same day (7 October) our adult mens footballers beat Clann Mhuire in the semi final of the Intermediate Football Championship in Balgriffin. The win secures promotion to Dublin Senior Football in 2024 after a gap of 17 years.
Scoreline – Scoil Uí Chonaill 1-11 Clann Mhuire 0-11
Scorers on the day:
Andy Bunyan: 1-1 Converted penalty & Free, Emmet Rogan: 0-3 all frees, Brendan Murray: 0-2

Well done to the players, management, medics and support team on reaching the final. Thanks to all the supporters who attended this and other games during 2023. The final has been fixed for Parnell Park and postponed twice due to the impact of Storm Babet!
Hopefully it will be a case of 3rd time lucky with the game set for Monday 30th October at 5pm.
Tickets are available here – Under 16s are free of charge
Pick up your Club flags in the shop on Saturday 28th between 9.30 and 11am
Clubhouse Celebrations
A special mention for the lads from our Clubhouse Bar volunteers who have supported events througout 2023 and hosted the celebrations after our successes on 7 Oct. Thanks to Phil and Seamus who looked after the winning teams and supporters on the night. The teams enjoyed the Club facilities with food provided by Denis Kavanagh and The Temple pub, Dorset St who also looked after us when beer stocks ran low! A real Club effort.
The Clubhouse will be open after the final on Monday evening too – all welcome!
The Clubhouse is available for all events and get togethers. Contact Neil McDermott at scoilclg@gmail.com to check availability / book your event.
Adult Hurling Championship
Our adult hurling team was beaten in the relegation play off in the Senior Championship v St Sylvesters. The game finished level and went to extra time as the lads battled to retain their place in Senior Championship. The team retained their Division 2 status and will play Intermediate Championship in 2024. Best of luck in the year ahead.

We’re very proud to be included in the AIG Dublin Club Chronicles series. The video is well worth a watch and you can learn about the history of the Club. Watch here
Club 75th Anniversary
Darren Benham (Scoil member and senior hurling mentor) is leading our Book project to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Club. He is seeking to engage with volunteers who would be keen to take part in this process. Key tasks include: transcribing previous Scoil commemorative books onto Word, drafting interviews with Scoil “legends”, newspaper and other media articles curation, copy editing and much more! This would be an interesting task for all ages and an opportunity to take part in a short term project over the course of the next 6/9 months.
A Scoil working committee has met with the publisher and set out an ambitious project management schedule for the remaining months of 2023 and into 2024 to ensure the book is ready, in print, and available for purchase from late 2024.
If you are interested and can help in any way, please contact Darren at: djbacc@gmail.com for more information.
Scoil Hoppers GAA Academy
The Scoil Hoppers GAA Academy is in action on Saturdays from 10am in Clontarf. Our academy is for all children from 3 years of age. There’s always a great atmosphere in the Club with young members, coaches and parents all enjoying the fun and games. The Nursery will take a mid term break on 4 November.
New members are always welcome!
Our North East Inner City (NEIC) GAA Nursery takes place on Saturday on the new all weather facility in O’Connells School. The Nursery went ahead last Saturday, one of the few events to do so despite the weather. Drop in any Saturday between 12 noon and 1pm.
Club Shop
Our MFC Online shop is open for the Bank Holiday weekend closing at 9am on 31 Oct. Definitely our last online shop of 2023! A range of popular items are available and all will be delivered directly to purchasers. Order here
Our Club Shop is open on Saturday mornings 9.45-11.15am, including Saturday 28 October.
Shorts, socks, juvenile jerseys, umbrellas, scarves are available to purchase.
Pitchside Advertising
Most of you will have seen the advertising signs on the walls facing our pitch. We are very appreciative to all the organisations who have supported us through sponsorship of signs. They are a great way to support our club and the local community.
We want more organisations to take advantage of a great opportunity to be part of the wider Scoil Uí Chonaill family.
We want to expand our pitchside signage. It provides great brand exposure, helps to build lasting relationships with the local community, and provides organisations with new opportunities to connect with potential partners and collaborators. It provides the club with funds to support running the club and developing our facilities.
So, what can you, our members do to help
If you own your own business and would like to promote your brand and support Scoil let us know
Ask your employer if they would be like to support us by sponsoring a sign
Ask friends/family members who have their own business if they would like to promote their brand and support a great club.

Notices From the Club Executive:
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Save the date – the Club AGM is scheduled for Thursday 30 November at 8pm. Nominations and motions should be sent to Rachel our secretary at secretary.scoiluichonaill.dublin@gaa.ie
Dates for your diary
We are expecting a visit from Santa on Saturday 9 December and we will also host a ‘Sausage Sizzle’ on the day.
Our Annual Awards Night is booked for Saturday 3 February in Clontarf Castle and will feature the Abba Girls. Guaranteed to be a great night.
Care of the pitch – especially during this wet weather.
A reminder that all ‘stand alone’ goalposts must be returned to the storage area at Castle Avenue. Recent storms broke one set of posts. This also helps to ensure that the pitch is clear for grass cutting which takes places on Monday Morning.
Also, where possible, please train off the main pitch and out of the goalmouths as much as possible to protect pitch.
