Season Winds Down

As the curtain closes on another season for most teams, I would like to congratulate all teams on the tremendous effort put in across the board. From our adult teams all the way down to our juvenile section, it is amazing to see so many people becoming invested in the club.

Some teams had phenomenal success, such as our Senior Hurlers, Adult Ladies, Under 16 Ladies Football, the Féile Ladies team and the undefeated Under 12’s, to name a few. There were some incredible new initiatives brought to the fore such as the Scoil Stars programme which is growing weekly. We had some famous visitors in the form of both Dublin Senior Football teams, men’s and women’s, . Juvenile teams had trips to Cork and Roscommon. Ever increasing numbers in both the adult and juvenile section showcase that the club is on the rise. A member of the club published their own book.

On behalf of everyone on the Executive Committee, I would like to thank each and every member of the club for their continued support, dedication and passion. We are a growing club, but without the dedication of each member, it would not be possible.

Enjoy the off-season, rest, recuperate and prepare for yet another great year in 2020. See you at the Dinner Dance!

  • Scoil Girls under 8s & 9s (2010 & 2011)
From a year that started with the hope of getting a team at this age group to the reality of the next generation of Scoil girls finished their first season with great success. As usual the season finished with a blitz, so while the u9s travelled the short distance to Naomh Barrog and played Lucan, the u8s hosted Na Fianna and Westmanstown.

    Under 8s
From a team that has only started playing together 8 weeks ago, this group of girls are a pleasure to coach and watch every Sunday morning. Last Sunday the giants of Mobhi Road, Na Fianna arrived down with over 30 girls along with another 20 girls from Westmanstown. From the start, the Scoil girls worked hard and never gave stopped for 3 games. From tackling all over the pitch and taking scores from all angles from both foot and hand, the team displayed everything they practiced in training all year and made light of the bad conditions. Special thanks for Roisin and Alison from the under 7s who played with us and were a great addition.

    Under 9s
With a little bit more experience in their ranks, the hopes were high for the u9s this year and they never disappointed. On Sunday all the team played fantastic football that dazzled the opposition, Lucan Sarsfields. Tenacious defending and a great spread of scorers was the theme of the morning. A special call out for our 2 newest players Ally and Amy who have recently joined the panel and are a great addition with their workrate and attitude.

Both teams went up to the Scoil clubhouse for some end of season treats and the all important ‘social element.’ Following a year which started out with one u9 team to ending with 2 teams and panels of 20 plus girls, the future is bright. Thanks to all the girls and parents who showed great commitment to training and matches all year. Hopefully everyone enjoys the break and we look forward to 2020.
