Championship Final

History.

Our senior hurlers won the Senior B Championship Final on Saturday night. In what was an historic night for the club, the team overcame a half time deficit of 0-8 to 0-4 in horrendous conditions to come out 1-11 to 0-11 victors at full time. Robbie Kennedy put in a man of the match performance with 10 points from placed balls and open play. His overall game was phenomenal. Celebrations after the game were typical of our club with fans, parents and children all flooding onto the pitch to join in with the team!

Manager Matt Cushen has the following message for everyone who came out to the game: ““On behalf of the management, players and myself I would like to say a huge thank you to all our supporters who attended our championship final. The positive energy generated from the stands contributed to our victory in no small manner. I know the expression the sixteenth man is used a lot but in this case it’s so true. So again míle buíochas.”

Team Updates

U15’s: Scoil 4-10 Vinnies 2-13

After the tumultuous celebrations of the night before and the historic achievement of our Senior Hurlers, it was back to Earth for a grudge league game for the 15boys in football.

On a good morning our lads flew out of the blocks and with a strong breeze at their backs played with great energy to score some wonderful team scores with points from Rian Brendan,Eoin and Darragh and goals from Max, Callum and a wonder strike from Darragh meaning we led by 8 at HT.Our defence and midfield were superb and the whole forward worked and interplayed brilliantly.

We knew we would be under pressure in the second half but heroics and unbelievable hard workfrom Lee, Rian, Caleb, Callum, Cathal, Nikhail, Ethan, Sufyian, Thomas and magnificent saves from Rory in goal kept Vins to 2 points behind before further scores from Darragh and Brendan and brilliant overall play and assists from Max and Cameron and Stephen and Eoin and great work from the whole forward line defence and midfield meant we ran out 3 points victors in the end. Brendan epitomised the never say die spirit by sprinting 60 metres to make an interception in the final minutes .

Rory made a brilliant save at the death too.

Onwards and upwards!

Up Scoil!!

U12’s: O’Dwyers (4-0) v Scoil (6-13)

Away win today on a challenging pitch & blustery conditions.

Great to see Alex Culligan get himself on score sheet including excellent assist to little Calum for a well taken poacher’s goal. Aurelien & Cornel were very lively up front contributing to the score line also.
Big Tadhg came on 2nd half and not sure how he did it but managed to bag a goal also.

Falling concentration levels from our more experienced players and enforced positional changes, led to Scoil conceding a number of sloppy goals which were completely unavoidable!

No matter, Scoil U12’S march on and look forward to their next game (Na Fianna at home/Hurling).

Fair play to Annemarie taking a number of the U12 lads out on the train to Balbriggan today also.

UP SCOIL.
