Scór Sinsear
Club members / player Aoife Maguire and Aoife Colbert represented Scoil at the Leinster Scór Sinsear 2024 finals at the The Downs GAA club in Mullingar on the 21st April. Both Aoifes entered the Ceol Uirlise (Musical Instruments) and performed to a very high standard and came third. Aoife Maguire took part in the Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing) competition and was crowned the Leinster Champion and will represent Scoil at the Scór Sinsear All-Ireland Finals in Killarney at the Gleneagles Hotel on the 11th May. A title so well deserved as Aoife is an amazing singer. We are looking forward to a great weekend in Killarney and wish Aoife the best in the All Ireland Finals – its super to say Scoil will compete in the All Ireland Finals….If you want to hear both Aoifes playing or Aoife singing, drop in to the Scoil trad sessions on the first Thursday night of every month from 9.00 – this Thursday actually…
Proud of our Scoil Dubs
Catarina and Martha won a Leinster title with the Dubs Minor Ladies team following a really exciting Leinster Final over Wexford. Alex Chapman is a selector with the Dubs while Daria is also part of the Dublin Management team. A proud moment for the club with four of our members in the County colours.
Fionn started at midfield for the Dublin Minor hurlers in two home games at Parnell Park against Wexford and Galway. It was great to see such a big Scoil crowd supporting Fionn and the Dubs. Fionn made a great contribution in the win over Wexford while he got a great score against Galway in a game that the Dubs probably should have won. It was great to hear Tracy and Dave cheering on the Dubs!
Next up for Fionn is a trip to Nowlan park on Sunday to face the Cats. A big day for the Daly family! #uptheDubs
Jack was part of the Dublin team who were beaten by Kilkenny in the final of the Under 19 development League. Congrats to Jack who stepped up from last years Dublin Minor team.
Around the Teams
Under 14 Boys Hurling
Under 14s played a very competitive home hurling match last week with everyone making a huge effort. Jason played really well when he drifted back and was able to clear a lot of ball. Sean was our top scorer with 1 goal and 5 points. Oisin scored a goal and Simon had a super point from play. To continue with the momentum we are scheduled to play a friendly football match against Balinteer St. John on Saturday of the bank holiday weekend.
Under 15 Girls
Football Feile
Scoil opening match was against an unknown quantity in Garristown. In an unusual occurrence, the team was strong from the start and continued to the end playing great team football.
The second game was against St. Anne’s who as expected were very strong team. After a poor start , the team regrouped at half time and fought their way back. A few goal chances in the second half were inches wide and St. Anne’s took the win by a point.
In the third and final group game, Scoil faced the hosts, Naomh Mearnog and their very strong and vocal support. Needing to win to make the semi final, the girls gave it everything on a very hot day and got the win they deserved.
With a semi final place secured the girls travelled to Beann Eadair to play their semi final. Unfortunately the efforts in the morning group games worked against Scoil and the girls just came up short against a very strong Beann Eadair team who went on to win the Final.
Camogie Feile
The girls headed in to Saturdays field having already beaten two of these teams in the league so they knew that the opposition would be putting it up to us. The first game was against hosts Mearnig who held us to a draw. Second game was a loss against a tough Clontarf team who went on to win the division.
Next we met Castleknock and a win in this game meant a playoff against hosts Mearnog for a place in the semi. Unfortunately the frantic 5 minute half’s didn’t go our way, with a few balls in the side of the net. On another day!! The girls played great Camogie and did themselves and their club proud.
Overall as a group the girls have been a pleasure to coach all year and the effort shown by the u15 girls strongly supported by girls from the u14 panel, has been excellent. Who knows what the bounce of a ball the inside of a post would have brought on another day.
A massive thanks to Naomh Mearnog for being excellent hosts on two weekends and laid on a great welcome and events.
The girls have put themselves in a strong position in both football and camogie leagues and hopefully they will get the rewards they deserve..
Feile Lads
Our Feile team in conjuction with Craobh Chiarain got to the Feil Football final were the lads went down by a point in a closely fought contest out in Lusk against Round Towers.
Minor Lads
Scoil Ui Chonaill 2-9 Clontarf 1-5
In the local derby last weekend, Scoil came out well on top after a very strong second half showing. Captain Cillian Farrell playing in the sweeper role was outstanding and showed great leadership throughout. Sean Morgan gave a commanding display at midfield with Rafa solid at centre back.
Up front our lads caused alot of problems for Clontarf with Jack, Diarmuid, Alan and Conor hitting some excellent scores. Nathan Oates worked really hard throughout the game. Next up is a trip to Castleknock to face the League leaders.
Minor Ladies
Our Minor Ladies won their League by defeating St Pats Donabate 4-5 to 1-10 out in Donabate. A super achievement by the girls. Congrats to Paul Keane, Alex Chapman and all the players. #clubproud
Junior Mens Hurlers
Its now 5 from 5 for Richie Egan’s Junior hurlers after a cracking game with Na Gaeil Aeracha by two points, 2-15 to 1-16.
Mens Senior Hurling
Our Senior Hurlers had an excellent 3-20 to 0-19 win over Erins Isle in the Dublin Division 2 league. This was followed up a very strong performance away to Naomh Barrog which we led for 55 minutes but went down by two late points on a score of 0-20 to 0-22. Next up is Kilmacud at home in the club on Wednesday 1st May at 7.15pm, great to get a good club support down for the lads.
Mens Senior Football
Our Senior Footballers defeated Parnells in the League last Saturday night in the club on a scoreline of 3-9 to 0-14. A strong performance by the lads with some big games coming up against Ballyboughal and Round Towers.
Ladies A Team
A great start to the League campaign with two wins away to Clontarf and at home to Skerries in the Division 3 league. Onwards and upwards for our Ladies in their quest for promotion.
Schools Update
Congrats to Gaelcholaiste Reachrann on winning the Dublin Schools Senior Hurling title with five Scoil lads on the team. Comhghairdeas Cathal, Alex, Cillian, Conal agus Diarmuid.
Congrats to St Pauls College on winning the Leinster Under 16 Football championship with four Scoil lads on the team. Well done to Rafa, Daniel, Alan and Luke.

Coffee Morning
The next Scoil/PPU coffee morning gathering will be held on Tuesday 7th May from 11am onwards in the Clubhouse. This will be a different gathering, looking to the future as all members, ladies, gents, husbands, wives, partners etc are very welcome to come along to a morning of conversations and a cuppa.
Coaches
The special order of MFC Coach tops have arrived in! The tops are available for collection in the Club on Wednesday 1st May from 6.45pm-7.30pm.
Safeguarding Courses
Over 80 of our Coaches have attended Safeguarding courses over the past two months. The courses organised by the Dublin County Board are required by anyone who coaches a player Under the age of 18. A special thank you to our hugely committed volunteers for giving up their time to attend the courses. Thanks to Ciaran O’Murchu for organising.
Proud Past
Scoil Ui Chonaill celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2025, what an incredible achievement for our wonderful club.
As part of the commemoration, we hope to publish a book that will include many of the landmark events from the founding of the club in 1950 to the present day.
Please bring your treasured mementos to the Scoil Ui Chonaill Memorabilia Day on Sunday 9th June 2024 from 3pm. We will take photos of the items you would like to see recorded in the book and take note of the story that goes with it. Old jerseys, medals, photographs, programmes, etc are welcome. Nothing will be retained by the club – simply photographed and returned to you on the day.
Celebrate the journey. Join us on Sunday 9 June, with your memorabilia, to enrich the content of the book, and create a record of club activity through the last 75 years.

New Coaching Book
A new coaching book from Philip Kerr has just been published. Philip who gave a coaching course to our team of coaches earlier in the year is top of his game and this new publication will be well worth the small spend.
