Scoil do the Double

Oran Rowley and Jack Kennedy from the Belgrove hurling team won the Corn Herald on Monday in the Cumann Na mBunscol finals in Croke Park. They beat St. Mary’s, Lucan. What an achievement, well done lads.

Ella Geraghty also won the Corn Haughey in Croke Park on the same day. It was a great day out for Scoil players and Belgrove Primary Schools. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Super Sevens

Please come out and support the under 14/16/17 girls on Sunday 16th of June at 2pm when they host a seven a side blitz in the club. The Northside will be well represented with visiting teams such as Whitehall and O’Tooles. Please support the girls in what promises to be a feast of football. Volunteers will be needed to help organise this event. Please contact Paul Keane 0868175558 or Niamh Crowe 0868246886.  If anyone has a gazebo they could loan us for the day for use as a dressing room we’d be delighted!

Under 12’s: Report from JP Courtney

Scoil (4-16) v St Vincents  (2-1)

Thankfully the rains held off for our last Hurling League game before the summer break and what a result against our near rivals St Vincents Gaa despite being without Niall, Addi & Conor.

Some fantastic scores/goals on show with pick of them coming from Adam’s goal straight from a free and Conal’s long range score from play (definitely in contention for best point scored by U12’s todate).

Lots of heated exchanges and points of view expressed at half time and you would swear they were losing game at H/T but am delighted to report Capt. Alex still loves his Dad or that’s what I’m sure he told Ronan Murphy.  He must do,  as he grabbed a couple of goal assists 2nd half.

Vinnies were limited to only 12 players/no subs today and i think that took its toll over the course of the match but must be said they scored two excellent long range goals themselves, both lobbing our “stand in” keeper Jack who had strong assured game.

Ultimately though trying to track/stop the likes of Fionn/Alan or get by Oran/Diarmuid/Tadhg L/Liam/Luke proved fruitless task.

Tadhg 2, Aurelien, Nathan & Alex did their best to drag defence about the place which led to a number of scores from our incoming players.

All in all very entertaining game with excellent pressure from all the lads & delighted to come away with the points.

Well done to the entire U12 Hurlers Panel so far this season (unbeaten in all gradings / League games)

Under 8’s: Report from Aideen Lawlor Home matches in hurling against  St. Brigids of Castle knock who despite having to travel were punctual and all set for the two match derby. Both sides played three teams with assistance from the under 7s Fionn, Cal, Donnacha and Shane.

Team Tom played great with Eoghan despite an ongoing finger injury covering every part of the pitch as well as linking well with Jason who was able to finish with some good goals. Ryan defended well too.

There was also great team work between Conall and Simon in team Patrick. The newest star Daniel played well in both midfield and forward positions. Allanah also put in some great defending  and wasn’t afraid to tackle the opposition.

Team Alan were consistent with two defensive tight matches with low scores but great marking and lots of shoulder tackling evident. Malik played well in mid position despite feeling under the weather. Hugh also had some great strikes.
