Leinster Football Championship journey

What a month it has been for our Club! Since winning the Dublin GAA Intermediate Football Championship on 31 October, the lads have played and won a quarter final and semi final, both on the road, in the Leinster Championship. We are now set to represent Dublin in the Leinster Final on Saturday 2 December at 1pm in Parnell Park. It would be great to have a big support for the lads from members and friends, old and new. Tickets are on sale for €15 with all Under 16s free of charge – see here.

Leinster Championship Quarter Final

Roche Emmets, Louth 1-11  Scoil Uí Chonaill, Dublin 1-12

We played Roche Emmets of Louth in the AIB GAA Leinster Intermediate Championship Quarter Final on Saturday 4 November in Darver.

The Match report from Dublin GAA is available to read here

Leinster Championship Semi Final

Rathkenny   Scoil Uí Chonaill

What an afternoon in Navan on Saturday 18 November as Scoil Uí Chonaill beat Rathkenny (Meath)! We are proud of all the players, management and supporters following their never say die performance in the semi final. A game that ebbed and flowed with Scoil 7 points down at one stage but the determination and spirit evident throughout the championship game was once again on show. A nail biting penalty shoot out followed extra time as nothing could separate the teams. A great day in the history of the Club.

Ladies A team in Leinster

Leinster Quarter Final

A trip to Durrow, Co. Offaly to play Ballinamere Durrow was the reward for our Ladies A team winning the Dublin Junior A championship. There was great support from the Club in Durrow and thanks to Sandra for organising the supporters coach. (See the photos in our gallery here)

The team were dominant in the first half and finished  5-2 to 0-2 ahead. A good start to the 2nd half saw the Ladies add 3-1 to their score before the game was halted due to a serious injury to the Ballinamere Durrow goalkeeper. We are very proud of members Paul Keane and Alex Chapman who were on hand to care for the goalkeeper while we waited for the ambulance to arrive. We sent our best wishes to Laura for a speedy recovery and to the Ballinamere Durrow team. Thankfully, Laura was able to leave hospital after a few days and was delighted to receive flowers from our players.

Leinster Semi Final

The team were beaten by a very strong Walterstown, Meath on Saturday 4 November in TU Blanchardstown. Final score Scoil 1-05  Walterstown 3-12.

The game was moved from Clontarf, due to the weather conditions, on the morning of the semi final. Special mention for the volunteers who had worked to get the dressing rooms and Clubhouse in top condition for the teams and also for those who provided sandwiches and treats for the supporters.

A fantastic year for our Ladies A team. A huge well done to all the Players, Mentors and Supporters for their efforts throughout the year. We look forward to an exciting 2024 as we will be represented in the Dublin Intermediate Championship for the first time in the Club’s history. Maith sibh

Under 13 Girls Cup Winners!

Congratulations to our Under 13 Girls who won their Cup Final on Sunday 19 November in Somerton. Final score Castleknock 2-05 Scoil Uí Chonaill 3-10.

Down a point at half time, the girls came back strongly in the second half in a well contested game. Well done to the players, management, parents and supporters. Scoil Abú!

Under 14 Boys Shield Final

Best of luck to our combined Under 14 Boys Scoil  is (Craobh) Chiaráin in their Shield final on Saturday 25 November at 2pm in Clontarf. All support welcome!

Seniors Coffee Morning

Our next Scoil Uí Chonaill / OCS PPU Coffee morning will take place on Tuesday 5 December at 11am. It was great to have the Intermediate Cup at the November Coffee morning along with Curly and Peter from the current management team. Santa will bring a large stock of selection boxes – so one for everyone in the audience.

Our annual Sausage Sizzle will also take place on 9 December in the Club. This year the proceeds from the Sausage Sizzle will be donated to CHI Temple Street. We will also have live Ceoil on the day from our Junior Trad members. Everyone is welcome to drop in and support for this charity fundraising event would be greatly appreciated.

Senior Football Championship 1983 and 1986

It was great to have many of the players from the Dublin Senior Football Championship winning teams in the Club to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1983 win. Thanks to Gerry Rowley for co-ordinating the event.
