Minor Hurling Champions

Scoil Ui Chonaill 1-12

St Jude’s               2-8

Scoil started the game strongly with some excellent long range frees from Jack Kennedy. It was evident early on that a large Scoil support had descended on O’Toole park with the famous Scoil roar creating a fantastic atmosphere. A trade mark Jacko goal from a free left Scoil in a commanding position and this was quickly followed by a lovely Liam Carr point. Fionn Daly showed his class and stamped his authority on the game by adding some beautiful scores from acute angles. Tiernan Brown chipped in with a lovely score following good team play. Scoil were well on top at this stage with every line having the edge over their opponents. Scoil went into half-time with a six point lead, 1-8 to 1-2.

The first fifteen minutes was a cagey affair with the teams trading points, a lovely Alex Courtney point giving Scoil a 1-11 to 1-4 lead with 17 minutes to go. A large Judes crowd arrived into O’Toole park and a fortuitous goal left only four points between the sides and gave the Judes crowd a real lift. Judes added a further point to leave only 3 points between the sides with 5 minutes to go. Some backs to the wall defending by Rafa, Sean, Daniel and the hard working Luke made Judes work for every score. Judes added two points to leave only a point between the sides in injury time. Some important hooks and blocks in the last passage of stopped an equalizer and gave our boys a deserved win and giving the club its first Minor Hurling Championship.

Well done to Mentors, Jp and Tommy for their hard work with the lads throughout the year.

Minor Champions 2024

Under 14 Cup Winners

Our Under 14 girls put in a fantastic performance in defeating Cuala in a one sided final in the club. The teams had played earlier in the season in a close encounter but the result showed the fantastic improvement that the girls have made over the season. The sporting behavior that the girls displayed to their opponents was acknowledged by both Cuala and the referee which is great to see. Congrats to Mentors, Aidan, Sean, John and Finbarr.

Under 16 Camogie Cup Runners Up

Scoil Ui Chonaill 2-4

St Kevins              2-9

A great game of Camogie in the Division 4 Cup final played in the club. Scoil were quick out of the traps and took a deserved 1-2 to 1-1 lead at halftime. The lead could have been bigger but for the crossbar stopping a rocket of a free from Freya.

The wind favored, Kevin’s in the second half and they started to take control of the game with some strong players throughout the spine of their side.

Scoil never gave up though and a goal from impact substitution, Orla closed the gap to 2 points with minutes remaining. The large Scoil crowd got behind the girls and some late drama was on.

Unfortunately the fairy tale ending didn’t happen with Kevin’s closing the game out with some nice scores.

Congrats to a well deserved Player of the Match, Abbey Hartnett.

Special mention to Mentors, Dave, Sinead, Aidan and Sean for their work in getting the girls to this stage with huge optimism for this group as we build for adult camogie in the coming years.
