Camogie News

Last Saturday, 24th June, our U11 Girls Team played Craobh Chiarain away.

After their game, they popped next door to Parnell Park to watch the Senior Camogie game between Dublin and Kilkenny. As you can see above, the girls enjoyed a sun-drenched Parnell Park for the afternoon.

Enjoy the break girls.

Notices

Some great news for the Club – Conor Maher has been picked for the Dublin U16 Development Squad after a number of sessions. Conor scored 1-3 in a recent game with three of the scores off the left foot.

Conor joins Fionn Daly on the squad.

Well done Conor.

Our Dublin U16 Ladies Football Championship Semi Final takes place on Thursday, 6th July. We have a number of Scoil Ladies on this team – Catarina and Ella. Tickets are now on sale for this fixture and can be purchased here All support is most welcome for the girls.

Congratulations to Senior Hurler, Conor Coady on his recent marriage to Jane Tolan.

Conor and Jane tied the knot in Portugal earlier in the month, with a strong Scoil contingent – both past and present to celebrate with them.

Wishing Conor and Jane every happiness for the future.

Scoil Hoppers GAA Academy

The Scoil Hoppers GAA Academy finished for the summer last Saturday in glorious sunshine.

A huge Thank You to all of our coaches, our teenage members for their help with the Academy, parents and of our young players for coming along each week.

Thank You to Ciaran and Thomas for their hard work each week to make Saturday mornings happen for everyone.

A special Thank You to Christine for welcoming everybody each week, to Deirdre for her warm up games with the children and Moya & Margaret for their help out each week with list and assisting with organising the players.

To start the summer and finish off the first half of the season, all of the children (and some adults) enjoyed a well earned ice cream in the heat.

Scoil Hoppers GAA Academy will return on Saturday, 9th September at 10am. New members welcome.

I hope everybody enjoys the break.

Mossy O’Connell Memorial Games

On Thursday, 29th June, the Mossy O’Connell Memorial Games concluded. The games consisted of 4 evenings of hurling and football for boys and girls born in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

On Thursday, 29th, also saw players from 2016 and 2017 take part in mini games.

All players were presented with a medal on the final evening and we had members of the O’Connell Family in the club on the eventing to present the medals to the players.

A huge Thank You to the O’Connell Family for allowing us to host the games in memory of Mossy, who did so much for the club and is fondly remembered by all of us.

Thank you to our GPO, Thomas Gleeson for arranging the games and coordinating each evening.

Some of our Senior Hurlers were also down to support the players – thank you to all of the hurlers for taking the time to come down and support our young players, to show them that they can continue to play for many more years but most importantly for supporting the Memorial Games.

New Flags

When all of our pitches are in use, we were short on flags and have had to borrow them from our neighbouring clubs.

This problem has now been solved.. Thanks to Paul Keane and more importantly, to Orla Benham.

Paul tasked Orla with the job of sewing flags from old/torn jerseys and kits and what a fantastic job she did – as seen above!

Not only is Orla a very competent camogie player and coach with our Academy, she is also a great at sewing.

Thanks and very well done Orla.

Ladies B Team

Our Gaelic4Mothers and Others Team joined our Ladies B team for the last 2 training sessions before they took their summer break. Thank you to Paul, John and Niamh – the Ladies B Team coaches and to their Captain, Aoife and all the ladies for the welcome received by our Gaelic4Mothers Team. The sessions were fantastic and so full of fun. Also thanks to John Kelly and Tom Murphy that jumped in on the evenings to help with the coaching – it was very much appreciated.

LADIES B TEAM ARE TOP OF THE TABLE IN THE CUP.

Our Ladies B Team are top of the table in the Cup on the Northside. This team has produced some fine displays and have won 4 out of their 5 games.

They are now preparing for the Semi Final in August against St. Annes Bohernabreena.

The very best of luck in the Semi Final.

Family Trad Session

The Family Trad Session will take a break for the summer months and return in September.
