Around the Teams

Under 12 girls

Scoil Ui Chonaill vs Erin’s Isle After playing challenge games for the last month, the under 12 girls finally got their season underway with a football match away to Erin’s Isle. The girls put in a fantastic performance from start to finish and did their parents and coaches proud. The Scoil defence was on top throughout, with some excellent marking and tackling. The forwards and midfielders put on an exhibition of point scoring with points being kicked from all angles and with lots of the girls getting on the scoresheet. We play our first camogie match of the season next Saturday at 1pm in the club against Stars of Erin.

Under 14 Boys

Under 14s played their first hurling league match this season on Saturday 24th Feb and came away the better side against O Dwyers of Balbriggan. With a tight team in terms of numbers and with additional support from Shane Healy,  the boys played a great match with all the team members working hard. Particular mention goes to Sean De Burca who was our top scorer by a mile. Other players who scored for the team were Simon, Rian and Jason. The goal keeping skills of Noah were also vital to us in stopping O Dwyers from scoring goals. Football next week and looking forward to our away trip to Tymon Park.

The 2024 football season for the U14 boys team started with a narrow 3-10 to 3-6 defeat to a very strong St. Brigids team in Russell Park on Saturday 10th February.

After a tough opening half, Scoil came back very strongly in the second half and were in the ascendency when the whistle sounded for full time.

There were several excellent performances throughout the team notwithstanding an experimental line up as a result of some (understandable) mid-term absences. In particular, Captain Noah Casey gave a towering performance in his first outing at full back with several blocks and saving tackles and Jack Carney dispossessed opposing players every time they ventured near him.

Special mention too for talisman Sean de Burca, who continued his sensational scoring form from last year, in notching 2-3 from half forward and Hugh O’Donnell who slotted two fine points from open play.

While disappointed with the result, the team performance gives the coaches much cause for optimism as we look forward to the rest of 2024 season.

Under 15 Girls

Congratulations to our newly formed u15 Girls football team on their first game of the season winning against St James Gaels in a great game.

Under 15 Boys

Our Under 15 Boys had a great start to their Feile hurling campaign with a 4-3 to 3-1 win over Fingallians. The team is playing together with Craobh Chiaran and it was the first outing for their gear sponsored by Dublin Port, looking well lads!

Under 16 Girls

The Under 16s got off to a great start in the league with a super away win over O’Dwyers in Balbriggan.

Minor Lads

Our Minor lads started thier league campaigns with wins over Castleknock in the hurling league and Na Fianna in the football leagues. A hat-trick by Dublin Minor, Fionn Daly was the difference between the teams in the hurling game against Castleknock with excellent work rate by Conal McCartaigh, Alex Courtney, Rafa Almeida and Luke Murphy. Some nice points by Oran Rowley and Jack Kennedy left Scoil 4-8 to 1-8 winners. In the football league tie away to Na Fianna, Scoil started well and led by 3pts at halftime with Sean Morgan converting a number of frees following several fouls on the lively Alan Murphy. In the second half Na Fianna scored 1-2 without reply to lead with 20 minutes to go but a couple of powerful runs by Conor Maher led to a goal and a penalty which Maher converted and completed his hat-trick. Na Fianna bounced back with a quick goal but Scoil responded with Jack Kennedy going on a strong run and he fed to Alan who hit the top corner of the net to seal the win. Cillian Farrell and Rafa Almeida were very solid at the back for Scoil with Diarmuid Murphy working hard throughout.

Junior Hurlers

Our Junior Hurlers managed by Richie Egan started their league campaign off with a 0-12 to 0-8 win over St Finians of Swords.
